I know this is really shallow, but I`m starting to get really scared that at only 22, my body will no longer be attractive because of having this baby...
I know to expect stretch marks - I`ve had them since I was 14, but what else? I`ve always had a pretty good body (to toot my own horn, lol) and I take care of myself. Am I doomed to live with a wrinkled up tummy for the rest of my life? any pre or post pg excersizes that helped anyone else firm up?

YOU ARE NOT SHALLOW .. no offence I can't take it when people moan about mums2be worrying about their post-partum bodies, if your not happy about something, fix it! but one thing I don;t agree with is when women put that ahead of looking after their baby.
anywhoooo ...
I feel it does depend on your genes, and how you take care of your body, but what worked for me was BREASTFEEDING ... i gained 36lbs while preggaz (mainly water) and i never done anything else but breastfeed and for me my belly was flat again after 2 weeks. NO LIE. and i'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight.
but you have to give yourself time, just coz it worked for me it might not work for you, my cousin gained 28lbs and shes finding it hard getting back into shape and her son is 2 so ... just wait until you feel ready and do your thing.

This is probably even more shallow of me to write this, but I felt the exact same way. I am naturally small and after my first baby I did get the dreaded stretch marks on my stomach(even though I put the bio oil and cocoa butter on 3 times a day religiously since day 1), and I am breast feeding so my boobs are most definately not as they were before. But, I am pregnant with my second and last. I expect the stretch marks this time, I am going to breast feed this one as well, and I'm sure my breasts are going to sag even more. I will endure whatever I have to to make sure my babies are healthy and well taken care of, but as soon as I'm done breastfeeding #2 I will be saving up my money for a well deserved breast lift and tummy tuck! *L*

One of my best friends just delivered her 1st baby. She gained 40 pounds and does not have a stretch mark on her. She also had a C-section and I'm sure she will be bikini ready by the summer!

I had my first baby at 25 and I was tiny. In kilos I was 45kg not anorexic but just small. I threw away all my small clothes after having her and then a few months later regretted it. I think the younger you are, the more likely you will get back to being like you were. Sadly my tummy has had stretch marks but what can you do. I am 38 weeks now and on 4th baby but my tummy is streched to the max so it's no wonder you get stretch marks. You cant have everything unfortunately.

As long as you eat healthy, and excerise you will be fine, post pregnancy body will never be exactly the same and your pre preg body. I went to the gym after my son was born and used bio oil for the stretch marks, I personally think getting your body shape back depends on YOU not your body type, if you are willing to put the effort in then there is no reason why you cant get a great body back. My sis has a 9yr old and was quite big afterwards, then anout 2 yrs ago she got a horse and put in soooo much work with this horse the weight fell off she is a tiny size 8 with a gorgeous flat strech mark free stomach, so it is more than possible.

I don't think it is shallow of you at all! Don't listen to what others say. It is important for you to be happy with your body after he/she is born. I was very worried too. I am 26 and I was terrified my body would never look the same and I would be embarassed to be in a bikini again. I just pictured myself hanging out at the beach with my friends(who have never had babies) and me looking just awful. I ate as healthy as I could(of course giving into some cravings), stayed active(yoga and walking a few times a week), and used jojoba oil on my tummy, legs and boobs twice a day. My baby is 8 weeks old and I am 7 lbs lighter than I was before I got pregnant. I think my ody is pretty much back to normal, except for bigger boobs but I can't complain about that! Last week I was at the beach with my girlfriends and wasn't worried about it. You'll be fine!

I didnt worry about it when I was preggo. I just enjoyed the pregnancy and ate what I wanted...although i wanted stay healthy for my son of course. Afterhe was born, mostof the weight fell of with no effort. I had ot work very hard to get down to where I am now. Cardio exercises and ab workouts and I am finally close to where I was before and my son if 5 months. I doubt my stomach will ever look exactly liek it did, prebaby, but who cares! I am focused on my son and your body won't seem as important as it once did.

I'm 33 and my first baby is 12 months old. Let me tell you that I wish I had my baby at 22 because then I think it would've been easier to get my body back into shape! It's not too bad, but I think it gets harder to get back to 'normal' the older you get. Others might disagree with me, that's fine, but I'm just letting you know how it is with me. If you don't get out of control with what you eat, you should be fine.

Try not to worry to much. I gained over 50 lbs with my first. within 6 months of nursing I was back into my "skinny" jeans and I actually looked better in my bikini because I was nursing and so my boobs were a lot bigger! I had never had a single stretch mark before I got pregnant but I have them now. Most of which you can't see because they are below my belly button and are much less pronounced when I'm not pregnant. The worst thing I had was where I had had my belly button pierced the tiny scar stretched into about a 2 inch scar. Really you can get your body back. I nursed, ate good (not dieting just eating healthy, very little sugar, breads) walked every where and went roller blading while pushing my baby in a stroller. I was 19 when I had my first and had always had a great body so I was worried to but other than a few stretch marks and my stomach is a little looser if I am lying on my side but you can't tell at all when I am standing up, my body went back. After I had my third I made a calender for my husband who was deployed and some of the pics were in a bikini. I can honestly say I felt totally fine about my body still! (I'm not feeling so good about it right now I have already gained 25 lbs! but I know I can get it back!) You can totally do it!

It depends on many things. It depends on your genetics. Some of us have better genes for snapping back into shape. It depends on how well you take care of your body during and after pregnancy. And not to sound rude, but yeah it is kinda shallow. Your biggest worry wont be how your tummy looks (or atleast it shouldnt be) it will be that you have a child to care for. Dont worry so much about it now. You may end up looking great, you may end up with a tummy that isnt perfect anymore. Hopefully you wont care either way. Its a long ways off to worry about and you dont know exactly how it will turn out. All you can do now is eat well and exercise (safe exercsie of course).

I think it greatly depends on how stretched out your stomach gets. If your skin is stretched to its max, no amount of sit ups will retighten the loose skin. It will go back to a degree but the leftover skin may not be attractive. Good luck, lets hope you don't get too stretched out.

Ive been scared of this too, but i found a few websites that give you some good advice....The best way to slim down in the middle is to do plenty of cardiovascular exercise. Some good examples of this are walking, jogging, swimming, aerobics, bicycling and high-activity sports like racquetball, tennis and basketball. Anything that brings your heart rate to its training zone and keeps it there for at least twenty minutes conditions your heart and burns fat....if you want the name of the website i'll definately send it to you...
