my daughter is always dressed in pink and purple, with her hair done all cute. Even with that people always ask "how old is your son?" It used to make me mad now i just think people arent tryin to be dumb they just are. My best friend has a 4year old son who has blonde curls, he is always dressed boyish, but people always assume he is a girl beacuase he has curly hair. i dunno i dont get it.. why not just ask "How old is your little one?"

I have had a simliar experience as Debra, my little girl was wearing all pink and I was asked how old is he??? Now that is dumb! But as for dressing gender specific, usually it is hard not to dress them according to the gender even a toddler but maybe the toddler had an older brother sibling whom she had passed these clothes down to. Sometimes it is hard to see how others percieve your kids when you know them so well... But it is not worth getting mad about... maybe she was having a bad day!

For me thats a hard one. I get annoyed at times when people accuse my daughter of being a boy even though she outwardly looks like a boy. She goes out in public wearing batman shirts, black pants, pokomon shoes and spider man toys. Its a honest and easy mistake to make. I don't dress her like this she chooses to. I wouldn't do anything to change her this is her personality. I guess my getting moody or cranky is my wanting the world to know im proud to have a little girl that wants to be a boy.
Now my oldest daughter used to dress in pink from head to toe. Earings and all. In china town people would always come up to me telling me my son was cute. I never understood that. I guess not all colors define the sex in some cultures.

i don't know. I never get mad, just correct them. Sometimes i guess people just can't tell by looking at babies. In the beginning especially, I would have my boy in a navy jacket, green hat and blue blanket and i would still get, 'oh, how old is your daughter!?" ummm... see all the blue? = boy. It didn't seem to matter. I just smile and say, my SON is ... old. But I have him mostly now in jeans, shirts with monkeys or frogs etc, boy stuff. BUt some of it could be used if I had a girl too. Girls can get away with wearing pretty much anything, but you can 't put boys in a pink dress.

People always mess up genders or verify regardless of the colors theyre wearing lol I dont know why! I always dressed my daughter in only pinks and purples and my son in blues and reds and still got questions. Every once in awhile my daughter would be in someone not gender specific and people would get confused. Never bothered me a bit!

my blokes aunt was at the park with her baby girl, dressed in a pink dress, a man was at the parn too with his child, he said ' oh shes a pretty girl....she is a girl isnt she?' - errrrr yeah, pink dress!!!! I appreciate that sometimes ya cant tell, and even i have made the mistake before so i now stick to 'boy or girl ?'its just the way it is. but the clothes with your dilemma were a little tomboyish for a girl, but each to their own i guess x

People always confuse babies no matter what they are wearing. My 9 year old always gets called mate and pal and other boy type names although she dresses not very femininely, it is her choice what she wears. i do get annoyed that people make assumptions on gender but would probably get just as annoyed if people asked the sex, not as a baby but older

i think it is stupid for people to get mad if someone thinks their child is the other gender!! babies dont always look feminine or masculine, sometimes they just look like babies! some mom just get to pissy over silly things.

Some people are just rude and/or ignorant and that is that. I had my little girl dressed in a PURPLE jumper when she was about four months old and this lady aksed how old my little boy is!? It is very annoying but c'mon, PURPLE? How many people dress their sons in purple?

I dont think that putting a girl in a sporty outfit is bad or should elicit crusty comments from other people. My son is very masculine looking, I put him in a red shirt a few weeks ago and some stupid woman said my Little Girl was cute. I was EXTREMELY annoyed. I dont think red is a gender specific color.

I would agree. I'm not really concerned with getting all gender specific clothing for my girly-to-be (I think I have more yellows and greens than pink), but I certainly won't get annoyed if people don't know she's a girl. Sounds like that mama just wanted to pick a fight.

well let me tell you... i will dress my 21 month old girl in pink, purple, some girly clothes and she still gets called a boy!!! so i think it has to do a lot with how color bind the person asking is!!!
