What is an appropriate age to have baby begin sleeping in her crib in her own room? Our daughter is almost 4 months and has slept in our room (either in a bassinet or in our bed) since we brought her home from the hospital. We are getting conflicting messages from people. Your thoughts?? Thanks!

Before that he was waking up to our movements and breathing patterns, so it was a good time to move him. He's a light sleeper and likes it quiet. WHen we moved him, he started sleeping through the night really well. From my experience though, that if you are going to make the move, do it earlier rather than later. Older babies get set into their routine and they don't like change much. My son likes knowing whats' going to happen. Bath, nurse, teeth brush, songs, bed. THat's the routine and if we deviate from it... like put him to bed in his pack n play at a friends house while we visit them for a few extra hours (past his 8pm bedtime), we get a lot of complaints from him :) He's now 9 months old btw.

*3rdtimesacharm* - 1258 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Whenever you feel like it. My daughter slept with us until she was 1, easily transfered to her own bed. My son until he was 7 months. Easy enough, it worked for us but it all depends on what you want!

Avery123 - 1258 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I moved my babies to their crib between 3 to 6 months, usually when they started sleeping through the night, or at least not waking up as often.

RobinG - 1258 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Cassandralee is right on the money ~ no one should tell you you should have had her in her crib by now just as no one should tell you not to put her there either. You do what YOU want ~ that is the only RIGHT answer, where YOU want her to be :) We co slept with our older kids for many years and some put them in the crib from day one, so who cares what others say you need to do and what is "right", if you are ready than it is time, if you arent then it is not time :) ((()))

mommad - 1258 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) A long time ago! It's too hard though. My baby is 6 weeks and I'm sure she'll be in the bed with us for a long time. I can't help it. It's so hard to break them of it though. My first slept with me until she was 4 years!

jaydsmom - 1258 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Just like everyone else... whenever you want. My baby is going there straight away. We have a video surveilance monitor so we can see him all the time, and hear him breathe, cry etc. My daughter was in her own room from the beginning too, and at 7 now, she certainly doesn't remember lol.

dawnispregz - 1258 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) every family is different, i agree with cassandralee, it up to you and what you are more comfortable with. its about 6 months that a baby grows out of the moses basket/bassinet, and then some mothers brings the cot in their room - some flit straight to nursery and put baby on their own with monitor there to listen to. See what works for you, dont take any flack for it, every mother is different x

riknlee - 1259 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I dont think it matters what age you put them in there from the cots point of view but they will certainly grow out of the bassinet and you will have to put them in there. I do family day care and young babies have to sleep in porta cots and they do fine.

windchime - 1259 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I agree with CassandraLee. It's all up to what you're comfortable with - I know people who put their baby in their crib in their own room right away. Just make sure you're able to hear her when she cries or if she's breathing funny.

CassandraLee - 1259 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Whenever you want. Theres no right or wrong answer :)
