What does it do to make women go into labor? I don`t understand how by drinking it, it`s supposed to `move things along` can someone please shed some light on that for me? (I`m only 23 weeks along, don`t worry, im not asking because `i want my baby out` haha im asking because i am honestly curious why women do it and how it helps! Oh and if you`ve done it, let me know your experience with it! thanks!

kater - 86 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i think also, apart from the uterus being stimulated by the intestines rumbling, there is a chemical which also helps bring labor on. i took it too, i went into labor and had 2 pain free hours of contractions, went to hospital, contractions got painful, and my baby was born 2 1/2 hours after that! --and my previous labor was 29 hours, so no-one was expecting for mine to go that fast!!

Linda-Rose - 86 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I took castor oil for my 2nd daughter,, took it at 10pm ( drank it straight from bottle, so dont know how much i drank, and brushed my teeth straight after to get rid of the gross taste) went to bed then sometime between 1-2am i started going into labour an had baby at 10am... i also didnt get the 'runs' at all, was a nice drug free birth..

Daisy23 - 87 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I also did caster oil! I was 38 weeks, i drank it at 7pm and just after 1am went into labour, when i got to the hospital, the nurse said i was fully dialated! Took 15mins then my daughter was there! Not only does the caster oil bring labour on, but it makes the whole thing go super fast! But ya, the taste of the caster oil is JUKKY! Good luck to you and congratz on the pregnancy!

Lakesha Smith - 87 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I've done castor oil several times w/my ppregnancies,it keeps you from being overdue,it's only recommended when you reach 37 weeks.I had my last baby right at 37 weeks.A rn told me to drink 2-oz mixed w/juice,walk around for about a half hr,then come back&drink again&walk.I went in labor that same night. It's the nastiest thing to drink, taste better w/orange juice!I was 9cm when I got to the hospital,I was only in labor for one hour no meds.

rachel86 - 87 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My mum did it when she ws pregnant with me it worked she said it was horrible cos it the labour moved way to quick.

soon2b5 - 87 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It can also lead to dehydration which will induce labor. It's a rough way to go, but some midwives swear by it.

arkansastechmommy - 87 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would have to say Castor Oil is the most AWFUL thing I have EVER tasted. And I mean that. lol. I tried it when I was 39 weeks pregnant with my son, and all it did was give me a HORRIBLE case of the "runs"! haha...tmi, I know, but I just thought I would tell ya. A couple of my friends who were also pregnant tried it, and it didn't work for them neither. When I drank mine, I mixed it with Orange juice, and you could see the caster oil floating around in it. lol...Yuck!

leahs - 87 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It is believed to work by causing spasms in the intestines, which surround the uterus. These spasms, in turn, cause the uterus to cramp, which might result in labor if your body is ready to go into labor. It also results in making you have the runs like crazy.
