LOL! I was scared of the same thing. Its not weird at all haha BUT ill tell you that while in labor, you totally forget. I didnt think i would forget, and i was induced too, so labor was predictable and didnt last too long, but i still forgot about "what if i poop" while i was actually pushing. Needless to say i didnt poop, (THANK GOD LOL) but you really do forget...

When you are at the point of pooping in your labour you will not care or possibly even know about it. If it happens they will whisk it away before you even know it. In the old days they used to do enemas, i guess you could ask for one

I am told one of the signs of early labor can be frequent bowel movements which I suppose is clearing out your system in preparation for the birth. There is so much pressure down there during crowning and delivery that you won't notice that it is happening if it does and it doesn't always happen so don't worry. My sister has had four vaginal deliveries and has not pooed once. As far as I know, she didn't do anything to clear herself out beforehand.

A lot of peoples systems clear themselves out naturally before labour but I'm pretty sure they can give you something in early labour to help you along. Trust me though when it comes to it you really really won't care you'll just want it out. Even now I'm embarrassed at the thought of having a smear or something but when i was in labour i couldn't care less. xx

they used to do enemas years and years ago to prevent this from happening, but they have figured out that the system self flushes anyways, so theres a high chance that you'll be sorted by the time that you go into labour. But in the end it doesnt matter- i dont wanna poop on my child either but i just think ' hey what will be, will be. i wont be the first and i wont be the last.' and thats what i keep thinking. x

I was really scared that was going to happen with my first one but after labor started I really didn't care. I just wanted the pain to stop. I stayed at my friends house for the first part of labor and had a Cheeseburger, Fries, and a drink because I knew I wouldn't be able to eat at the hospital. When I got to the hospital I didn't give birth until 30 hours later and I still did not poop.

I read that if you go into labor naturally your body actually does a "self cleaning" aka diarrhea prior to the onset of labor.
Another thing you can do is buy a Fleets enama from the drug store. do it at the onset of labor and it should clean out your colon. It can take up to 45min to work. You can also ask the hospital to give you one(it's the same thing) once you get there.

There are a couple of things you can do if you would like. One is get an enema and 2 is to give birth naturally. It is still possible but if you aren't given a epidural you can get up and use the bathroom throughout labor. I had to go when I was like 8 cm dilated I got up and slowly made my way to the bathroom in between contractions and there for did not go when I was pushing (I think getting up to use the bathroom sped my labor up as well). I had a nurse with my baby before that one that apparently did not know I could get up to use the bathroom when I didn't have an epidural and tried to tell me that the feeling I had was pressure from the baby not me actually needing to go potty(I was only dilated to like a 5!). I wasn't about to use a bed pan and didn't have the guts at the time to just go so I ended up doing the deed during labor. I agree with canuck that at the time you will not even care but it was nice to avoid it the second time around especially since my husband does watch the babies being born :-) lol. By the way 5 years later after the poop birth my husband finally told me when it happened he snickered just a little bit. I said I couldn't believe he did that while I was giving birth. He told me sorry but he had never seen anybody poop before. We both kinda laughed about it. I guess it's the price you pay for being married to an honest man.

I didn't need to take anything, my body cleaned itself out nicely when I started having contractions, lol. Honestly though I could have cared less while I was pushing, and considering more than 50% of women do 'poop' while pushing I think the dr and nurse could care less as well.
