so i took castor oil today. for those of you who have taken it or know of people who have how long did it take to go into active labor

reneaj - 1251 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i took 3 doses and after the 3rd dose i went into labor about 6 hrs later. baby was born same day perfectly healthy :) i was already 3cm and 75% effaced tho. It only works if your body is ready.

kbushby - 1252 days ago thanks ladies. my midwife actually told me to take it. and what dosage.. and i have been drinking lots of water to prevent dehydration. but labor still hasnt come on too strong.. but im done with it. i took two doses and thats it. she said i could take three, but i cant phathom drinking more... its like drinking straight oil... yuck

agonzales - 1252 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Ive seen a woman on a tv show take it and she went into labor I think 4 hours later. Other than that I dont know anyone who has taken castor oil.

moms the word - 1252 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Here is what I have heard about the whole castor oil controversy. I have heard that it doesn't always cause labor. I know of several people on this site who did it and NOTHING happened. I also have heard of someone who took it and had extreme problems like explosive bowel movements that lead to dehydration and an emergency c-section cause baby went into fetal distress. I don't know how much she took or how many times she tried it but it wasn't good. Thankfully, the baby turned out to be fine but had to be treated for dehydration after birth just like the mom. I only heard of a couple of people who tried it and had sucessful start of labor. For those that it did work for, it seems like it took around 12 hours from taking it to delivery if I remember correctly. So, as you can see, it seems like it can either be ineffective or cause problems or help to start labor. I guess it all depends on how much you took and how many times you take it?
