This is my second baby and my other one is 12 months. I am 19 weeks prego and since about 17 weeks my nipples have been leaking. my boobs are sooooooooooo sore and full and heavy feeling. the only thing that makes them feel a bit better is to express some of the clear colostrum that is coming out. when i squeeze alot runs out. does anyone know if this is normal? i didnt experience this with my first pregnancy.

nannersmama - 1248 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I agree with Debra. You might also want to contact your local hospital, and see if they are taking milk donations...some hospitals accept expressed breast milk for the NICU babies....at least then, it wouldn't be a complete waste.

Debra - 1248 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) did you breastfeed your first? if so, did you stop only a few months ago? Cause it sounds like you are just lactating already, which is possible. If you want and have a pump.. you can try pumping and storing the milk- in a good freezer (even the one that is separate but attached to your fridge) its good for 6 months. You can also try to relieve the swelling by applying heating pads to it or warm towels or cabbage leaves which can also help with engorgement. You may have to pump once in a while to help take out the extra milk. I hope this helps. Its not uncommon to lactate for 2 years after the birth of your first child and oxytocin and progestorone is often released during pregnancy as well which are the hormones that are responsible for lactation.
