What is the test for early labor?

Hello, I am 25 weeks and I have been getting mild contractions. (not bh) At my appt. today I told my Dr. that they have started. (I have a history of early labor) He did the pelvic and scraped in there (tmi sorry) He said to get in this week for an u/s to check the cervic length. A couple of hrs. later his nurse called and said that My test came back positive. I asked positive for what?? She said pre-term labor. What is the test????? What does it check? Anyone have this done? Since it is positive I have to go in tomorrow morning for theu/s. (instead of friday) Please let me know if you had this done. thank you in advance and God bless, steph

raspberry - 75 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i had this test done and from what the dr told me, its a test that tests certain proteins that are released from the cervix when labor is close. i believe he told me its about 95% accurate in detecting labor within 2 weeks. you'll probably go for the ultrasound and they'll most likely either admit you or send you home on bedrest since you're only 25 weeks along. it will be STRICT bed rest, no getting up or moving around to keep the baby in there as long as possible. its a newer test thats been out for about 2-2 1/2 yrs now.

Oh, fFN the thing below is something that disapears when you are close to delivery and it is a swab they test for it's the protein. Good luck I hope they will help things to stop.
