Should i buy one of these for the baby? i didnt think babies moved around when newborns, and i dont know if i should be getting one of these to make sure the baby stays on his back :S

Neese - 1232 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I used one for my son and Im also gonna use one when I have this baby. I don't think Its necessary but i felt more comfortable using it than not.

amy2088 - 1234 days ago Thanks ladies! there is so many different opinions on this, ill just wait and see if i need one. Thanks!!! Happy Pregnancy!!!

KarenVG - 1234 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I used one for both my babies to keep them on their back. They liked it because they felt tight and it kept the blanket from undoing. It is not essential, just wait and see if it is something you will need. Maybe if the baby is fussy or is a mover you may decide to get one.

moms the word - 1235 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I didn't use one either and my baby was just fine. I don't plan to use one this time either.

earthmomma - 1235 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i have one, but i havent had my baby yet so i dont know if he will like it! it is for him to lay on his back. it is slightly elevated at the top so his head and chest are higher than the rest of his body. that is supposed to help with breathing. it has two things on each side that keep him on his back or from rolling off it. they do not go all the way up to his head or face. as far as it causing SIDS, the package said it helps REDUCE sids. i think this makes sense bc it helps the baby to breathe better and keeps them from rolling onto their face.

cadesmommy - 1235 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My hospital told me it increases the rate of SIDS so we didnt not use it. Here is an article that says sleep positioners that are used to make babies stay on their sides increases SIDS so maybe thats what my hospital meant. Either way I stayed away from them http://health.usnews.com/usnews/health/briefs/pregnancy_infertility/hb051013a.htm

patience21 - 1235 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my daughter never slept on her back. I dont know why but she never could sleep like that. Most the time i would let her sleep on her tummy to mine, then when she was out i would put her in her crib. She used a positioner for a few weeks to stay on her side, but it didnt last long. they are cheap though, so why not try for your newbie. Your baby may like it. Oh the cover it should say it actually helps reduce SIDS not increase chances.

mdbabyno1 - 1235 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I didn't use one. In our baby class they told us not to because it's an increase to SIDS.

aulrobbri - 1235 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had one and used it to keep lil man on his side and provide security for the first couple weeks.

canuck - 1235 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I didnt use one..I tried but my baby would not sleep on her back no matter what we did so it really didnt help us much.

mommad - 1235 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had one with both babies and never used it.

mommy-at-home - 1235 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) These are not necessary. I used one with my last baby. It seemed to make her feel more secure. And it helped keep the blanket tucked underneath her so it wouldn't get too loose around her face/shoulders.
