The hospital will provide everything you need for the baby. You dont need anything except his/her going home outfit and items for that drive home. Up til then the hospital will have everything you need. So your partner can bring that up when you are released. As far as you, a nice robe, night gown (pants are a pain and not worth wearing after delivery) slippers, toiletries magazines and things you want while you labor.

If you search on google there are some good sites about what to pack. I am packing 3 bags....My actual main bag with clothes, towels, wash bag, make up, hair brush, phone charger, PJ's etc. Baby bag with sleepsuits, vests, nappies, wipes, some ready made SMA milk already in sterile bottles, blanket, mittens, hat the normal baby bits. Then 3rd bag is actually a smaller labour bag, when your in labour you can sometimes be moved from room to room and remember loads of things can be hard. Labour bag just has labour nightie, maternity pads, old undies, breat pads, magazines, (DH PSP) snacks, drinks one vest, sleepsuit, blanket and hat.....Once baby is born and we are settled DH can just go to car and get other bags....I didnt think of doing that till i read it some where and thought it was good.....Also pack things for DH like a change of clothes, toothbrush etc cos he may want to freshen up too

You dont need to pack bottles and milk for the baby- even if you do intend to breastfeed but cant in the end. They will provide that. Heres what i packed. ME- 3 nighties, 7 undiesa lightweight baggy tshirt to give birth in(was gonna do naked but cant have water birth anymore....boo!),maternity pads, breast pads, socks, dressing gown,toiletries(shampoo/cond,t.brush/paste,cleanser,cotton wool, hairbrush, deo, moisturiser, hair bands, face cloth and spray mist-apprently great whilst pregs for partner to spray and cool mum down.)Confy clothes to travel home in, big elasticated skirt in case of c-sec,and vest top.Bras,IPOD,and book. BABY- three baby grows, one full body slep suit, booties, hat and scratch mitts, bib, 8 nappies, dummy(pacifier), hooded towel, and blanket to wrap him in when hes been checked and passed back to me - dont want him to use NHS stuff, and shawl for travel home. He'll travel home in the sleepsuit wrapped in shawl. I have the luxury of car, but i have tried to condense down as much as possible. But i do have two over night bags now- purely because i wanted to seperate baby and mum stuff so if people needed to root through it would be easier to find, and no wetness from toothbrush on baby clothes.x
