arkansastechmommy - 1233 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) With our son, me and my husband took Lamaze classes. I enjoyed the classes & they were VERY interesting, BUT, in my opinion, I didn't use ANYTHING I learned. The hospital tour at the end of the class was neat too, but it was nothing, I couldn't have done on my own. It's really just a matter of choice, and it may have came in handy for people other than myself.....

I sat through a 14 hr course w/ my partner and learned a few things, but I could have used most of that time better. Yes, read the Ina May book, and borrow a video at your library. This would have been better preparation than the general class the hospital offered.

If you can't get to a class, I really recommend to you that you read Ina may's book- "Ina May's Guide to childbirth." Her breathing techniques are so fantastic- it got me through all 10 cm and the whole experience left me feeling like I was a powerful woman. http://www.amazon.com/Ina-Mays-Guide-Childbirth-Gaskin/dp/0553381156

kevinsmilf08 - 1234 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) http://www.laughandlearn.com/ <~~~ OMG! It's the BEST! Take the class at your convenience and pace. There's always the rewind button, too, for anything you miss! HA! It was SO helpful to my hubby and I. Couldn't have asked for better. Good luck!! :-D

earthmomma - 1234 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) by birthing class do you mean just a general class? thats the kind of thing im in right now and i like it. it doesnt teach a specific technique, just the facts about birth like the stages and things about the hospital. it leaves options open to you on birth types such as lamaze, bradley, hypnobirthing etc. after you start a general birth class, then you have a better idea of how specifically you would like to deal with the labor. but thats just my opinion! but also just to let you know i have not learned anything that i didnt already know...but i read up on pregnancy and birth like a maniac lol
