Ditto with the advice from Lorien and momstheword - I also have it and it is controlled with my diet. No white pastas, rice, breads or potatoes. I stay away from cereal in the morning and eat it occasionally in the evening - I limit my fruits to 1 a day and obviously avoid sweets. I have increased my intake of salads, vegetables, proteins and fish. I'm actually thankful in a way for this diet because I have avoided extra weight on my legs, hips and ass thankfully - I'm all baby. I will be induced 10 days early (next Friday the 10th) because of GD and the doctor estimates she will be close to 8lbs. Good luck - it's not as bad as it seems once you get used to the diet and monitoring of your blood sugar.

It has not been a big deal for me. I just control it with diet as well. The important thing to remember is to make sure you always have protein with your carbs and to stay away from anything white if you can. The occasional treat is fine if you are controlling it ok. My biggest baby has only been 7 lbs 12 oz. I really think the glucose test messes with you and can make you more worried than necessary even though I flunked the glucose miserably I can eat a meal and even have a treat with it and my sugars are fine when I check them. Also try going for a brisk walk after a meal that will help as well. Good luck and don't worry!

My friend gets it every time she has a baby and then it goes away after the baby comes. She is able to control hers with diet. As long as you follow the "rules" on what to eat you can control it fairly easily according to her. It only lasts for the duration of the pregnancy and I am sure you and your baby will be ok. Just listen to your doctor and take good care of yourself and everything will turn out fine just like it does for my friend every time.
