Its a measurement of your uterus, not just the size of your stomach. Its impossible to acurately do it on your own.

it would be hard to do on your own since you have to lay down and also you have to know exactly where the top of your uterus is. the standard measurement for it is 1 cm per week so 33 cm for 33 wk. but this can vary by a 1-2 cm. if you are really measuring 37 wk then you are measuring big. i have been measuring 2 cm ahead and my doc isnt worried. but 4 cm is a bit much.

Ok...you have to lay down first. Then right at the top of your pubic hair line you start. Then you gotta pull up the tape to the very top of your uterus( fundus). Its alot easier if you have someone help! Hope this helped you! Lindsay

you measure from where the uterus starts at the top down to the bone of the pelvis at the bottom. this must be done laying down. i personally have never measured my own as my midwife checks it accurately when i go and see him

Your fundal height is measured from the bottom of the uterus to the top. It is usually measurered while you are laying down. It seems it would be difficult to do this measurement yourself.
