I want to do some hand and footprints of our baby for his book. Has anyone done this? If so how did you do it and what do you do it with?

I did this. The hospital had a cool kit where the ink is on one side of a sheet of plastic. You place baby's hand/foot on the dry side & then presson to the book....nothing gets on baby & you get a perfect print with no smudges or smears. You can get the kits with these ink "thingies" at craft stores or even Babise R Us

when my daughter was born, in the hospital they did it with thick gold paint. she had her footprints done, but not her hands, they scrunch. my baby boy is 11 weeks, and i was thinking now would be a good time for handprints, as he holds hos hands open and theyre still little and cute!! i like the pudding idea!!

Some of the baby stores sell kits to do this sort of thing. I bet they are in craft stores too. I just bought one that has a memory box with a frame on it for her photograph. Beside that there's a little clay-like part that will have her footprint in it.

Or a rubber stamp pad. they're non-toxic and wash right off with soap and water. They're made to last on paper, and very available in the craft stores. Also, a stamp pad is the perfect size for a newborn hand and foot. Stamp one, wash it, stamp the next....I wouldn't want to get caught holding a baby with 4 inky ends dangling around!

Pudding, it dries just like paint! My 3 year old has a blast with it. i have painted with pudding with her since before she was even one year old. But for little babies, if you take the book to the hospital when baby is born the nurse will do it for you when they do the birth certificate. but if you have already had baby vanilla pudding with a little food coloring. Cleans easy and when they lick there hands no harm done.

I put food coloring on her feet and hands, it washed off fine, but paint would work too, I didn't have any at the time haha.
