Wondering if there is a connection? Added: 1223 days ago. Added by: amy2088 Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
So i was just sitting here thinking if maybe there is a connection between BH and how long your labor last. Like for someone who get BH Alot would there labor being faster then someone who doesnt get BH. I dont seem to get BH all that much, so that makes me wondered if my labor will be long!! Any Comments On This???

I had 1 1/2 months of constant painful BH (false labour). I was induced at 39 weeks and had 6 hours of labour.

My shortest labor was the one in which I never had a BH contraction the entire pregnancy

i had a lot of bh contractions- as i frequently didn't drink enough water at work and got dehydrated. I'm an Rn and while i know better, there was just NO time to get water and drink it and then have to go to the bathroom on those bad work days. My labour contractions were manageable for 18 hours then I had 6 hours of more painful labour (but managed with gas) got to 10 cm and had a c/s at the end of it as baby decided to be breech without telling us. You have to read "ina may's guide to childbirth' I tell this to everyone and it does and will make a big difference in your approach to labour and birth. Her breathing techniques are fabulous!

No. BH can be due to alot of physical activity and/or dehydration. BH have no bearing on what kind of labor you will have

I thought the same thing since I had BH since about 20wks pregnant. Towards the end they started to get more intense and I was dilating already. At my last doctor visit I had been dilated 3cm for about 2wks and thought maybe my labor will be short then.. Nope I was wrong lol. I was in labor for about 23-24 hours. Good thing was it went pretty fast to me since I did the laboring at home and didnt go into the hospital until my contractions were back to back.

Well, I had tons of BH's but they did nothing to help me along. I eventually had my membranes stripped 3 days before my due date. The next day he was born. I woke up at 3am w/ REAL contractions, by the time I got to the hospital at 7am I was already 3 or 4 cm dilated. 2 hours later I was like 9cm dilated.. but then it stalled and I eventually had him at 3:23pm. So it was just a little over 12 hours from when I got the first pains to when I had him. My labor might have been a little harder because he was 10lbs. I bet if he was smaller he would have been out sooner.

I don't know if there is a correlation or not. I didn't have a whole lot of strong ones with my first but they started really early. His labor was about 12 hours long starting before the contractions ever hurt- labor at the hospital was about 8 hours. My other son- I had loads of contractions- early too, and his labor was also about 12 hours, but only 4 hours at the hospital.

I never had BH and my labor was 21 hours long, 3 hours of pushing, and ended with them using vacum to assist getting him out. He was 9lbs. I had the worst labor ever.

my best friend never had a BH until the night before, she went into labour at about 4am and was literally holding her son by 8:00am and another girl i know had a TON of BH every day starting early, like 20 weeks or something and she had a really long labour so i dont think it really matters at all. also, you can be having BH and not notice them

bh help to shorten your cervix, so if you have had a lot of them before labor, then you may be a little bit ahead of someone who didnt have a lot of them. but i dont know, everyone is different.
