At first he wanted to go but now wants no part of it. Does any one have any suggestions or good ideas on how i can help him go potty instead of diapers?

So I put my daughter in cloth diapers for a few days. She HATED the wet feeling! Then we went shopping for regular kids' underwear with her favorite colors and characters, and the first time she wet on her favorite Disney character she was in tears. We've been doing great since then.

momanik - 1224 days ago Thanks ladies I'm going to try this out. I wont be pushy about it. Hopefully this will work. THANKS so much. I have no idea what i'm doing. I will start next week and let you know how its going and i might still have some questions if thats ok

When I knew my kids were ready by the interest they showed which was between 2 and 2 1/2 for all three I started out by having them just go naked. Once they were using there potty while naked (this took a few days or so) then I would put them in underwear (never pull ups they don't feel wet enough). The feeling of wet in the underwear is uncomfortable for them and they will begin to tell you before they wet there pants, if they wet them. Whenever my son would use his potty (my sister did this as well) he would get 1 chocolate chip as a reward. Remember you may still have a few accidents here and there and it may take much longer to potty train completely at night. If mine has an accident I just say oops or uh oh remember we need to go in the potty so we can have a chocolate (it usually works :-)

I didn't potty train my son till he was three...he was ready by then and never had not one accident in the day or at night. Good luck.

Also, on Amazon.com, there is the world's best dvd for potty training....it's called potty power. It'll drive you nuts, but it's well worth it! lol. The thing that finally got mine out of pull-ups was taking her to a McDonald's playplace for a few hours, in underwear, and it just clicked. Good luck! We also put a reward chart on the bathroom wall. Everytime the potty was used, we put a sticker on the chart. A full day of potty use, and we went to Chuck E Cheese. A full week, and we went miniature golfing. Hope this helps!

I made a huge happy deal when she went and she got 1 candy for a pee and 3 for a poop, worked for me but it can be very individual. Good luck.

patience21 - 1225 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My 3 year old daughter did the same thing, at first it is fun to them, then when they realize it is something they are always wanted to do its not fun anymore. My daughter is now potty trained, i let her walk around in a long tshirt at home and she didnt wear anything no diaper no panties and she seemed to use the potty on her own. If i asked her if she needed to go she would get annoyed and would actually hold it in. if i let her play and do her own thing she would go to the potty on her own. So i would say dont push him, he will let you know when he is ready. At least that what my daughter did. Oh and when i was out and about at the beging of potty training i would put big girl panties on her "and made a big deal about it" the first thing we would do is use the potty where evr you go. They think it is fun and it gives them an idea of how everyone uses the big potty. well i hope this helps.

momanik - 1225 days ago thank you and good luck to you to. hopefully someone on here will be able to give us some addvice

lisaandandrew - 1225 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) exactly like me! My daughter was 2 in June, and showed a great interest. lately, she refuses to go.... she says "too hard mommy"... they sit her on the potty at her daycare (more than she will do here) but she doesnt usually go there either. It is soooo disapointing b/c she was doing so well. dont have the answers, just support Iam in the same boat as YOU. Good LUCK.
