Membrain sweep? Added: 1220 days ago. Added by: Mrs.M.H. Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
So, I get an apointment in two days. and it will be five days `till I`m due and I am thinking a membrain sweep might help this baby come sooner. I was late with my girl and don`t want to be late this time. Has this helped anyone deliver sooner out of all the people that have had it done?

Didn't do anything for me either. Went to the Dr.'s, he did a membrain sweep and told me to get ready for contractions... there were none.. I ended up getting induced 4 days later b.c she was 8 days past my due date.

I had one at 39 weeks with my son... didn't work for me. I ended up having to be induced at 41 weeks due to low fluid, and then had a section due to failure to progress. Good luck to you though!

I had a membrane sweep with my daughter at 38 weeks because my doctor was going out of town the week of my due date and wanted to try as uninvasively as possible to "help me along". I had it done on a Friday and spent the entire weekend having brutal false labour pains. I ended up being induced on the Monday because of a sudden onset of preeclampsia (I'm not saying the sweep caused the preeclampsia lol). I wanna say that I would have gone into labour soon, but really I have no way of knowing. All I am going to say is prepare yourself for some mighty contractions that may or may not be productive! (I was a fingertip dilated when i had the sweet, and after the whole weekend of horrible contractions, I hadn't dilated any more!)

Sorry, I had membrane sweeps with each of my last two babies and it didn't help at all. I was three weeks late with my son and two weeks late with my daughter, and in each case they had to do c-sections because I never did go into labor.

I had one last Wed I was 37 weeks. I had cramps and backpain all night, and lost my plug the next day. But no baby. I am 38 weeks now and the dr is doing one again in 2 days. I am hoping it works this time.

I had a membrane sweep about 5 days before having my little one. It didnt make me go into labor right away but I do believe it helped me progress. After getting it I was cramping and contracting and I started to get my bloody show. My doc said it only works within those 48 hours if the baby is ready to come. So I say its a 50/50 thing.
