I have been thinking about getting mirena after having my child. Has anyone else been on this or planning to get on it? If not, what are you thinking of?

Michaela - 1216 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I've had the mirena twice now. once b4 i got preggers and i had one put in when i was 6 months post delivery. It's great, no worries for 10 years and i'm still breast feeding my daughter, the hormone is released slowly over 5 years only into the local area ie.your womb and therefore it should regulate your hormones. I have a very light period now or none at all and also very little cramping. It was sore getting it put in nd you can feel pretty lousey for that day and you will bleed for a while after inserting but once it is settled in you'll be worry free for 5 years. Good luck.

I personally like the idea of non-hormonal better a) because I'm breastfeeding, and b) I don't need extra hormones making me crazy around period time lol. With copper, the metal changes the environment of your uterus so sperm can't fertilize an egg basically.

jensay - 1216 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) ive got it and i love it... painful to get in though..,i have no side effects and i like something i dont have to worry about for 5 years... i get little or no period... there was spotting though for a few weeks after getting it in

nannersmama - 1216 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had the mirenca, and it was the best thing I ever had....no weight gain, couldn't feel it, and once I got it taken out, it took one month to be preggers. It's so nice not to worry about shots or pills or patches. Hubby couldn't feel it, either, so that was nice. I love the Mirena. I had it in for almost 3 years, and will be getting it after I have this baby, too!

luckywhite - 1216 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i had it for 11 days and got it removed.. i put on 10lbs and my tummy was so tender i couldnt fasten my trousers or sit down.. a lot of people have positive experiences but i didnt.. i wouldnt go near it again. my face and everything blew up as if i was pregnant so not for me.. you can google mirena reviews and get both sides.. im going to try the copper coil after this baby..
