What do you do with a baby not old enough to turn to front facing but has outgrown the carrier type of car seat?

Nina90 - 1181 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it goes by Weight or age not both. Its like when they can get out of the booster seat. when they are 9, 80 pounds, or 4'3". not all but one of them has to be taken into consideration. but i would get a 3 in 1 convertible car seat. it faces backwards til they are old enough or big enough or til you feel you are ready. but make sure to read the instructions. they will tell you.

canadababy - 1182 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Age is not always the determining factor, it also goes by weight, so if they've outgrown it they may be heavy/big enough for the next stage?

Julianna - 1182 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You buy a convertible seat. It sits rear facing until they are big enough to face forward. I have the evenflo triumph dlx. Nicholas outgrew his infant seat when he was 5 months and I bought this seat. He sat rear facing until his 1st b-day when I turned him around to forward face. It fits all the way to 55#. tosycheeksbotique is right. they must be at lesat 20# AND at least 1 year old. I have a friend whose 18 month old is not 20# yet and she still faces the rear even though she's passed the 1-year mark. You need to take both weight AN age into consideration and if they haven't passed up BOTH of the milestones they should be rear facing until they do pass both

RosyCheeksBoutique - 1182 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) They have convertible car seats that car be rear facing or forward facing. In ohio they need to be 1 yr and 20 lbs to face forwards. However... research shows that children are much safer rear facing. Most severe car accidents are head on collisions. If the child is rear facing their head will press into the seat. If they are forward facing their head will snap forward and have bad injuries. Most rear end collisions are not as severe and at slower speeds. Most convertible car seats can last up to 40 lbs. rear facing. and 80 lbs. or so forward facing. Hope this helps! (My son is 19 months old, 32lbs and is still rear facing..I figure..if it's safer!)

nannersmama - 1182 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) actually, it's not by weight. It's a year and above can face forward. They sell carseats that are stage 1-3 or stage 2-3. They are full-sized carseats, but can remain facing backwards up until the baby is one year old.

msmillsap08 - 1182 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If they are 20 lbs they can be in a forward facing car seat, I think they go by weight and not age hon.
