My doctor was worried my baby was going to be really small. He ended up weighing 7 lbs. at birth, 3.5 months ago. Now he weighs over 18 lbs.!

This late in the game they are only estimates only correct up to a pound each way. So your baby may be 5 pounds or 7 pounds right now. At thirtyfive weeks i was told my baby was six pounds 5 ounces. With six weeks left my baby could have gained 3-6 pounds from that from what my doc told me. I went a week overdue on top of things so I was told to expect at least a 9 pounder. My daughter was born one week late and only weighed 8lbs 5oz which is a completely healthy size. People seem to think that if a baby weighs less it will hurt less which is so untrue. Either way it is going to hurt and size of baby isn't going to make a difference. Best to hope for a chubby healthy baby than an underweight one

Yes they always estimate but you wont know till they are born...
with my first at 36 weeks she wighed in at 8 lbs. 6 oz, and two days after my due date when she was born she was born at 9lbs 6.oz.
this time, at 33 weeks they said around 7 lbs. and when he was born at 39 weeks he was 8lbs. 14 oz. you never know!

my midwife the day before i gave birth estimated my daughter to be 7-7.5lbs,this was done through feeling and scans..she weighed 10 lbs 6 oz,born 9 days early and vaginally with no pain relief.i say dont stress to much if your doctor isnt, they arent always right with sizing.

They can't really tell how much your baby weighs. They can just guess. I wouldn't worry about it unless you have gestational diabetes. My son was 8lb 13oz and I delivered him vaginally with no problems. Good luck!!

It hasnt happened to me but my Aunt Delivered an 11 lbs baby boy,but she had Gestational Diabetes though. She had to have a C-Section. He looked like he was 3-4 months old when he was born!

I was told my baby could be around 8lbs. or higher when I delivered and she was only 6lbs. 11oz. My Dr also told me when they measure the baby it's not correct, It's a ruff guess.
