My daughter has not had a bowel movement in six days. She is three months and I breastfeed. Her pediatrician did not seem concerned but my daughter seems so uncomfortable. Did this happen to anyone`s baby? What did you do?

mamalu817 - 1151 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Have you tried using a supository? I had the same problem with my son and we tried everything. Then my peditrician suggested it. They even make them in children's sizes. They don't hurt the baby, they barely even feel it. Just make sure it stays in... my son would toot it out...lol!

My doc suggested I put a little prune juice in her bottle. Maybe an ounce or so. It worked wonders. Within a couple hours she went, and has been getting prune juice in each bottle since. Try it, it works and doesn't hurt them at all!

If your baby is uncomfortable ask your doc but i would think its pretty normal. She told me that one of her colleague's daughter went for as much as 20 days without bowel m. and she was perfectly fine.

jessicadarling - 1153 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) breastfed babies do not need to poop as much which is why your doctor isn't so concerned. When we saw our doc she asked how often she was pooping and I told her about once every 2 days. My doc said " OH thats plenty! I would have been happy if you said once a week" The reason is because breastmilk is made completely for baby. Everything in it can be used by baby which is why it takes so long for them to build up enough to poop out. As long as there are 6 wet diapers a day then your baby is probably fine. If she seems in pain though then see your doc again

MelissaLMoore - 1153 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) We used infant massage and it got things moving VERY rapidly for us. Within an hour, we had a week's worth everywhere. Just use lotion or warmed massage oil. Using your hands, use a firm touch and with baby lying down massage across the intestinal tract and down toward the groin area. If you would like more details, let me know! This worked great for us, as I do not like giving certain drinks or food without talking with my doctor and giving some mixtures could actually hurt your baby. Oh, and putting anything into the rectum just seems cruel to me, but that is just my opinion.

baby2onboard - 1153 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i took a stool softener and it passed through my milk also glycerin baby lax is wonder

jaydsmom - 1153 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If you breastfeed, you should drink prune juice. It will pass through to your breastmilk and help her out. Unfortunately she won't be the only one cleaned out.

courtenay - 1153 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) your doctor probably wasnt concerned because it is completely normal for breastfed babies to go up to a week or so without poo'ing because almost everything in breastmilk is absorbed into the body.

mylittleman - 1153 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Baby food prunes or prune juice is unbelievably wonderful! For a while my son had to have a 2 oz. jar of prunes every other day to keep him from getting too constipated. Now when he gets constipated that's what we use--cheap, he loves the taste and it clear him RIGHT out!

MamaMeMe - 1153 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I nanny and have worked in childcare centers and am studying for a degree in early childhood education and am pregnant now. I have found that if you put a few drops of light corn syrup in a bottle (I've only done formula, but pretty sure it'd work with breastmilk) the BM slips out a lot easier and sooner. We've also had to use a Q-Tip with vaseline to help the BM come out. Finally, bring her legs up and move them in a running position and that can help too... hope it works!

bethk - 1153 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Gripe water works wonders!! ORRR Cooled boilt water with a small amount of sugar in it! (Thats what they used on me when I was a baby)

mama-sl0p - 1153 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) This has happened to me. I BF also. Try 2oz of some white grape juice. It'll get the poo out and it's safe for baby!
