WELL IM NOT GONNA BE MUCH HELP BUT I KNOW IN SA,IF U GO TO A PRIVATE HOSPITAL THEY KEEP U 2-3 DAYS FOR VAGINAL DELIVERY AND UP TO 5 DAYS FOR C SECTION.MY FRIEND GAVE BIRTH AT A GOVERMENT HOSPITAL 2ND DECEMBER.SHE WENT IN LABOUR AT 3 AM,DELIVERD AT 9:36 AM AND WAS HOME AT 3PM THAT AFTERNOON SO IT REALY DOES DEPEND ON WHERE U STAY AND WHAT THE HOSPITAL ALLOWS.IVE HEARD IF U OPT TO GO EARLIER AND SOMETHING HAPPENS TO U OR BABY THEN THE HOPSITAL WONT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.HOPE INFO HELPED A BIT.

they can't "force" you to go home earlier than 48 hrs for vaginal and (is this right folks?) 5 days for a surgical delivery. those are the standards of care planning. if you wish to have a shorter stay, then you should tell your doc before you go into labor, during one of your check ups that you'll be seeking an expedited discharge, and then repeat that to each nurse as shifts change at the hospital. there are some aspects of infant care and patient education they have to complete before they can let you go, plus the pediatrician and ob both have to make their visits and ok the plan tp leave. I was group B strep positive, and b/c of that they would not let me go home early. the pediatrician wanted to be on the safe side, for baby's sake.

I was induced due to pre-elampsia so I was there from noon Monday until noon Thursday. Baby was born vaginally just after midnight on the Tuesday and we were kept longer because my daughter wouldn't latch.

with my first, I went in at 1am on the friday morning and left Sunday afternoon - he was forcep delivery and bad tear though. There were women on the ward that came in after me and left before me - it was so depressing lol Will have to see how this birth goes!!

i had two nights in hospital after vaginal but thats because they wanted to see him feed from me and we were having difficulty with that. if it wasnt for that we would have been released after one night

i stayed one night, butt only because my husband thought id get more rest that way (i didn't, but he was just trying to be nice) i would have been fine to go directly afterward, as i had a fairly short labor and no stitches. it totally depends on how you feel

Depending on how the delivery went. My first who was forceps delivery with severe hemorrage and tearing, 4 days. My 2nd, easy delivery, 18 hours, 3rd induction, easy, 12 hours. 4th, induction, easy as heck lol, 4 hours. I don't "do" hospitals, they make me feel claustrophobic and with other kids at home, I always found it best to get back to the routine quick. Plus I find I sleep better in my own bed with my hubby right beside me!!!!
