Do you have to boil bottles before you use them or can you just run them through the dishwasher? What is the difference?

Debra - 1128 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) New bottles I would boil. That also makes sure it gets all the manufacturing junk out.

Debra - 1128 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) There are also steam bags available for cleaning equipment (medela). I think its recommended to sterilize your bottles if you have a preemie or newborn. Once your baby starts, sucking on its fingers, licking dirt and crawling, it doesn't matter anymore and a wash through the dishwasher or hand wash to make sure its clean will suffice. The bowel system is not sterile- only when the baby is in the womb. Once you start feeding a child after birth, their bowel system is no longer sterile and the immune system needs to start handling some normal flora to promote their general health.

amber325 - 1128 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I sterilize them when I first buy them. Then rinse them out well and dishwasher them 1 time a week. Breast milk I pump is in bottles..formula I supplement with is in platex drop in bottles...so no cleaning those = great!

lizzie287 - 1128 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Initially I boiled them to make sure the really foreign stuff was off, and after that I used the sterilize setting on the dishwasher.

rachel86 - 1128 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I sterilze my babies bottle after each use until they are 1.

jq baby - 1128 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I will be boiling once a week-- my mothers kind of old school and you will KNOW they are sterile

dawnispregz - 1128 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) you should sterilise them, a dishwasher has detergent in it, n also i would have thought temp is higher when boiling or microwave steriliser
