I am breastfeeding and trying to pump at least once a day but lately I`ve had such a hard time pumping...Any suggestions? There is very little milk coming out but my son is getting plenty to eat. I tried pumping ater a hot shower and after massaging my breasts and also when I am nursing but nothing seems to work well.

I got mine on ebay- used which some say you shouldn't do, but I boiled the parts and don't have any problem. Some cheap pumps will not be efficient and actually will hurt your supply. You have to use a quality pump- adela I think is another good one. Also- drink 100 oz of water throughout the day. Pump after your son nurses to drain your breasts. You won't get much but it will add up and your body will start to make more. I've tried all sorts of things to increase my supply and drinking more water is the only thing that really worked. If you are trying to create a supply in the fridge for going back to work, create a faux feeding time. In the middle of the longest period between feedings, start pumping then. Your body will think it is a normal feeding time and will have milk ready. I pump at 9:30- my son goes to bed around 6:30 and doesn't wake up until about 1:30, well he used to. Now we are working on sleeping through the night- long story there. But that is how I got a good amount of milk stored up. I would also pump on one side while he nursed on the other. It was only an ounce or two but it will add up.

wwatters18 - 1127 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) what kind of pump are you using? try to pump more often. are you trying to wean him onto a bottle? be careful with that. i gave my daughter a bottle at 3 days old with expressed milk and she never would go back to the breast! just that instant-she was done with the boob. i tried for 3 weeks with a lac. nurse to get her back on and nothing worked. she would scream bloody murder till she got a bottle. i did everything aside from starving her (which alot of people told me to do) but i just couldn't not feed my baby. so i use the medela advanced pump in style pump and its a god sent. its pricey but since im pumping exclusively it is money WELL spent.

courtenay - 1127 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i dont have much luck with pumping either

2b - 1127 days ago I do have an electric pump. I get 2 oz at the most...

alreadygot1 - 1127 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I think electric pumps work better. I had a Medela pump in style and I exclusivly pumped for 5 months. I always got at least 3 or 4 oz from each side.

Amomof3 - 1127 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I've breastfed all 3 of my children and tried pumping with each and also tried manally expressing (by hand)...I only ever got a little maybe a few ounces each time. I gave up!! My mom is even a LLL Leader (for the past 25 years) so I know I wasn't doing it wrong, Babies do it best :)

mommy-jazz15 - 1127 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) manual pumps are the best! they make it easier to pump ur milk. and its faster. id get a manual pump. they say the automatic pumps arent as sufficient.
