my baby girl is gonna be 4 months old in a few days. im gonna try to start her on cereal soon. how long do you feed them cereal before you go to baby food and how often and when do you feed them the cereal?? im a first time momma!

dawnispregz - 1114 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my lil man is having baby rice in the morning mixed in a bowl with his normal milk. the pack says 1 teasp to 15ml of milke but i gave a tiny bit more milk as its was new to him and it was too stodgy for him, now hes used to it he can have it like porridge texture. The baby rice is apparently only till they get used to spoon feeding then you can give them approriate aged foods.i went to baby clinic today and got him weighed and asked how much food and what etc, and i got told one feed of rice or cereal a day -and the rest of his feeds milk. but you know your own child and if shes a god eater then she may want more. my lil one is nrly 4 months and has started waking in the night for a feed. So the health visitor has told me that in a couplf of weeks i can start giving him a few spoons of mashed carrots, or sweet potato(apparently sweet potato goes down nicer than normal). She said only a few spoons (4) and then the rest milk for a week or so then you can change the amount and gradually reduce the amount of milk you give as a top up.Then when hes used to carrots for lunch for a week or so, then i can give sweet potato,or cauliflower etc mashed for dinner. So itll be baby rice and milk top up for brekkie,4 spn mashed carrot for lunch-milk top up, 4 mashed potato for dinner -milk top up. and milk for supper. But this may not suit your lil one at all. my lil boy weighs 18lb and hes very tall, so hes obv going to be like his dad, broad shoulders etc and tall like his grandma. If he didnt have the height he would be overweight,- but theres no problems as hes in proportion. Only give one meal for a week before introducing another- that way if allergic reaction its easy to identify what food it was. Hope this has helped and not confused you more ! x

my4kids - 1114 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i started my kids on fruit at 2 months and then 2 weeks later vegetables. By 6 months they were eating ppl food such as mashed potatoes. It all depends on what your confortable doing my dr said as long as they are able to keep it down they are fine. My kids are now 6 ,5, 5 and all doing great not overweight or anything and they are such good eaters unlike some kids mine would rather snack on fruit or veggies then chips and stuff.

RobinG - 1114 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If you opt to start at 4 months I'd not add anything til 5 months :) The cereal is fine and all he needs for a while. Feed only once a day for a while since solids are for practice only and not needed for many many more months. Think we did once a day till 6 months.
