Im thinking of getting my 4 month olds ears pierced...should i? shouldnt i? should i wait? i just cant decide. pros and cons please

bossybaby - 1110 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Totally do it now, Mine were done when I was 3 mths, I never had any issues with infections/healing, Unlike girls I was in school with in 3rd-7th grade whose ears would not only get infected but alot of them would get what really resembeled a skin bubble (that was pretty big) on the back of their ear that would stay for months & months. I'm doing my girls at 3 mths.

MarloeBeansMom - 1111 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I think earpiercing on a little girl is cute. I don't really care about everyone elses opinions about it's your daughters choise and blah blah, but here is useful advice to think about. Your daughters ears and earlobes are still growing and going to get bigger, even possibly change shape slightly. So the hole that pierces them now may be in the wrong spot in the near future. I got my first daughters ears pierced at 9 months. She kept losing them and by 1 1/2 years old I decided to just let them close up. Thank God! She is 4 1/2 now and you can still see where the hole used to be, it is definately in the wrong spot. Also, I have a 27 year old girlfriend with the same problem, her mother got her ears pierced at just a few months old and now when she wears ear rings, it looks "wrong". Anyways, thats the one thing I would consider before getting them pierced.

abrock8680 - 1111 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Yes its better to do them early...my daughter got hers done then and she didnt cry very long!

geegee15 - 1111 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i got anitah ears pierced 2weeks after her 2months shot..da doctor said she would be fine as long as she got her 2 months shots..she cried a little nd got over it..she gon be 3 months nd her ears havent got infected..i think the sooner the better like that dey dnt go tru da pain wen dey older..my opinion

dorolyn - 1111 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Ha, I guess I shouldnt put my 2 cents in... because I got my SON's ear pierced at 11 months. He is two now and he loves it... he always shows it off! So I think it's totally your decision.. its not like youre about to give her, her first tattoo or anything... if she doesnt like them she can always let her holes close up!

Debra - 1111 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I went when I was 12. I wanted it and it was my decision and I still remember how amazing it made me feel. Grown up! I went with my mom and it was a great day- a real mother-daughter day.

emma32uk - 1111 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i think you should let her decide for herself when shes older.

darrens~misses - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) hi i had ears pierced wen i was young nd totally hated it not only that but they kept gettin infected, i was a total tomboy nd my mum didnt want me to take them out, loads of u r sayin bout not knowin any1 that doesnt hav there ears pierced well i dont if ur lil girl does end up a tomboy she aint gonna thank u for it specially wen they get yanked outta her ear, no one can tell u what to do or make u do anythng but in my opinion wait till she is older so she can decide nd hav a nice girly day out wiv her make it special nd sumthng she will remember not sumthng that just there

mikasmommy - 1112 days ago wow lol thanks for all the opinions lol i didnt mean to cause a stir

lilysmumma - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) im getting lilys done after her 6 mth injections as the doctors surgery is attached to a pharmacy that does them! i would have had them done ages ago but her daddy wants her to have all her hep b needles first so im waiting... 3 more weeks!! cant wait!!!

HaleyD - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I agree with trkrchk....I am waiting to get my daughter's done until she is older and can go pick out the earings, etc, etc. I want it to be a special "big girl" day! Plus...it is one less thing to have to worry about as a baby. I have sensitive skin and my ears got infected all the time, so I don't want to have to deal or worry about that when she is a baby....I am already worried about every other little thing! LOL But you do what is right for you!!!! XO

trkrchk - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Personally, I would wait. It was so neat to take my girls when they were 5&6. They had become "big girls" and it was really neat to spend a day with her and get ears done, buy some hair ties at claires, and then get an ice cream. It was our special day. We spend so much time poking and prodding them when they are babies, why rush?

misz-cashis-oct08 - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) wow i just read the rest of these comments since i posted mine. when did ppl get so uptight? its just earrings. if they dont like em later in life they can take em out! but who doesnt like ear piercings?! seriously i havent met a girl without her ears pierced since i was in the 2nd grade. and child abuse?! wow, thats wayyy overboard. someone needs to take a giant chill pill and call it a day. once again its just earrings.its not like she wants to tattoo the kid jeez. lighten up people.

happyforest - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my mom had mine done at 6 months and im so glad she did bc im such a weenie when it comes to needles that i wouldnt have been able to now and i love wearing earrings!! i cant believe some people compare circumcision to ear piercing...hello clipping off a part of someones genitals is in NO WAY comparable to an ear piercing !!

courtenay - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i just got my daughters done. it was EASIER than the shots, its the noise of the gun that scares them, ear piercing doesnt actually hurt for more than a second. i wanted to get them done before she was old enough to pull on them etc. she cried for about a minute and then had a nap. she is fine. if you want to get them done id recommend doing it sooner rather than later because if you wait much more your going to have her pulling at them while they are healing. so my opinion is do it now or wait until she is old enough to ask for it.

Its-Chelle - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i have 3 girls. my 1st daughter i had hers done at 7 mo old. no biggie, but at 14 yrs old now, she quit wearing them daily a few yrs ago,no big deal as well. my 12 yr old got them a yr ago, loves it no issues, my 10 yr old got hers done last summer but had issues with her, she wanted them soooo bad but was nervous. drove me nuts. she got them though, got past the first couple wks of soreness and loves them. its up to you. if you get it done now, and she doesnt like them when she is older, she doesnt have to wear them. its not abuse, we take our babies in for immunization shots dont we? lets not get into the abuse thing please..

Cindie - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) also, the circumcision thing is out of line. I had my son get Plastibell because when my little brother was a year old, unfortunately my mom hadn't been able to get him circumcised by that time and he got bad infections even tho she kept it clean.

jessicadarling - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It is NOT child abuse. If it is then anyone who gets their son circumsized, or gives them surgery to repair anything is committing child abuse. I got my daughters ears pierced at 6 months old. She teared up and then started laughing and playing with the girls who did it. Less damage is done now because you care for them and they don't know they are there so they won't play with them or get them infected. I think they are beautiful. We have never had problems.

Cindie - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) if we have a girl, I'm going to get her ears pierced ASAP because the younger the baby is the less likely that the baby will mess with her ears and pull on the earrings. I do know they require that the baby have her immunizations. :)

last.one.for.me - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I, personally, think it's child abuse - she might be your child, but it's still not your body. I know, in the grand scheme of things, there are worse things you could do - but inflicting UNECESSARY pain onto someone else, without their permission, would be classed as assualt if they were adults - why is it anything less when they are your own child and not legally an adult? I also feel exactly the same way about circumcision.. since it was mentioned - and just becuase it can be done, does mean it should be done...

That said, if you really wanna get it done - the pain will be shortlived and I'm sure you'll look after them and they'll heal nicely - at the end of the day, what I've said is only MY opinion and not meant to cause offence to you personally - also, it's irrelevant if you're happy enopugh to do it :]

Good luck coming to a decision.

mikasmommy - 1112 days ago lol i love all the opinions...

dawnispregz - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) not talking about circumcision though are we??! totally irrelevant comment !

amber325 - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) lol the whole vanity comment is funny...Thats all circumcision is now days. Not necessary but done anyways.

shelley75 - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Why hurt your baby for vanity's sake?? I don't like it at all. wait until she is older

TabithaDashae - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Totally get it done. I had mine done when I was only a month young and as long as you take care of it it should heal nicely and without problems.

amber325 - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I got olivia's done a week prior to 4 months old. I went to a nice high end store and they had individual piercing kits that are very sterile and clean! I love her ears being done. my mom did mine at 6 months and I am thankful! I got my second holes in high school and they hurt so bad! Get it over with now when she won't remember it! Plus this whole..."she may not want it later in life" is bull! I don't know any grown woman who doesn't have hers done! It is normal..at least in MD where I live. Just make sure you go somewhere clean and nice. Also take a bottle/boob lol for afterwards to comfort her! Good luck! and remember it is your child do what YOU want! :)

misz-cashis-oct08 - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) if i had a girl i would pierce them too. its wayyy more common now a days then it was years ago. plus its adorable!! i say go for it. plus as long as u take care of them and get them done professionally its safe..just make sure u get real gold studs so theres no chance of her being allergic =]

my4kids - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I don't believe in piercing a babies ears its not your body its hers and she may grow up and not want them pierced so wait and let her decide when she is older rather or not she wants them done

dawnispregz - 1112 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) do it when shes old enuff to ask for it, no need to decorate a child, i really dont like it at all.
