I am five months PP. My hair has been falling out in clumps for the past month. I am worried that my hair will fall off. I had my thyroid checked and it was normal. My doctor said that some women can get alopecia after pregnancy. Has anyone been through this? Did it stop?

It was like TONS OF HAIR.. I was extremely worried. My husband kept reassuring me that i was fine. But it doesnt come to his surprise that i said something because i am a hypocondract. Lol. I complain about the littlest thing with me. I am sure you are ok, as though i am sure i am too. Mine happend about 2 months PP.

I was SO miserable! My doctor said it would stop eventually. It did stop and my hair grew back, but it was a rough transition period. I looked like a freak for a while. I was SO embarassed...I even took pictures of the bottom of the shower when I got done. It was covered in hair. All I can say is it will get better eventually. This too shall pass.

aprilmama - 1102 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I have had two babies, and after each one I lost a lot of hair. Both times it was the hair that frames my face which is my curly hair. I never went bald but I could tell I was losing a lot, no one else noticed. Not until I have pretty hair again and they say, "I didnt know you had such curly hair!" And I hate that when it grows back, there are a billion "flyaways" or "wings" that dont go back into a ponytail. Now that I am pregnant again, all my hair has fully grown back to preprego stage and is pretty and curly and long, so not looking forward to losing it again because it takes so long to grow it back out. But really you'll be the only worried about your own hair. Its very normal.

last.one.for.me - 1102 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I lost LOTS of hair after my first son aslo - and it was around the 4-5 month pp stage. It's because during pregnancy, you generally have 3 hairs growing per follicle as opposed to the normal one or two - this is what gives the appearance of 'thicker, fuller' hair that all the books rave about. It's the hair returning to the normal ratio of 1-2 hairs per follicle as the hormones return to a non pregnancy state. Don't fret - you won't go bald!!

auroracoladybug - 1102 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) don't worry...you will continue to loose all of the hair that did not fall out during pregnancy because of the hormone changes. I have very long hair and it seemed to last forever but I am not bald. I think the leangth of your hair may also make it seem like more is falling out than there really is.
