secondandexcited - 389 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Although it seems like doctors might not do a lot in the beginning, it's still always a good practice to go for the baby's sake. If you haven't already, start taking prenatal vitamins ASAP! You can get those at any drug store for a couple bucks without a prescription. They are in the vitamin section! Those give good nutrients to your baby. If you don't have insurance there are plenty of free places you can go to get care! Don't NOT go because you can't afford it! Your baby's health is sooo important! When you go they will measure the baby to see how far along you are, and they'll ask you LOTS of health questions about you and the baby's father. You'll have to get blood work done to test for any medical problems in your baby such as downs syndrome and trisomy 13. Then during each regualr appt. they'll just measure your belly, check weight and urine, and that's about it! You may have waited a little while to get care, but it's better to go now then never!!! Good luck to you and keep us updated on your progress. Congratulations!!!!

lisamarie8503 - 390 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It doesnt matter if you are healthy or not...you still should go to the doctor. Just because you are healthy doesnt mean you make healthy babies! Im sure there are tons of people who didnt go to the doctor and their children turned out fine, but why not go just as an extra percaution and for the babies sake.

dawnispregz - 391 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You just need to go the doc! There should be no reason for rude comments- because i assume that you didnt go because you didnt know you were preggers. If you did know you were preggers but didnt go because of something else, then thats not great. but heres the chance to turn it around - its not just the baby that docs look out for when pregs its the mum too so go get checked, make an appt now if you havent already. And do what the girls say on here - take ya pre natals. Your baby needs folic acid to develop properly. S/he maybe missing out if you dont take these. The doctor will forward you on the midwife and she will do a basic test of temp, weight etc, health details on you and the dad. Smoking/drugs/drinks habits etc. And then she will more than likely book you in for a scan straight away to check the baby and the sex if you are that far along, and then the rest of the pregnancy will be as 'normal' as anyone elses. If you dont go to the doc, then you are playing with you and your babys life/health and thats not fair.

misz-cashis-oct08 - 391 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) its not that bad. my cousin didnt know she was pregnant till she was like 24 weeks and her son is completely fine. the worst thing is i uve been drinking or smoking alottt. but other than that the baby tends to steal whatever it needs from ur body whether u like it or not. so chances are the baby is healthy. just go to the dr asap and get those vitamins and tests! ur 1st appointment theyll just check ur blood pressure, weight, ull have to pee in a cup, depending if they do ultrasounds at their office or not if they do ull prolly get an ultrasound if not theyll at least listen for the heartbeat with the little doppler machine, theyll probably do a pelvic exam and feel ur uterus which the dr can usually estimate aboutt how far along u are. but if u have an ultrasound he'll be able to tell u for sure. and then of course ur gonna get blood work done to test for a bunch of stuff, ull have alot to do. but u would guess ur still under 20 weeks so thats good. keep us posted!

tto - 391 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Not as bad as not going at all! :) Be sure to take prenatals and get to the dr asap. They have tests that need to be done around now to ensure the baby and you are healthy. They don't do much the first trimester anyways and it sounds like you are about 20 wks or more. It's fun to go- you should get an u/s and see your little one!

sarahm - 391 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Lets not get mad ladies. We are all here to help each other out. We are supposed to be here for one another. now....depending on how far along you are to what they will do. you will need blood work, u/s, glucose test if you are around 25 weeks. They ckeck for strep b. There are lots of things that could possibly go wrong just by not seeing your doctor. Dont be scared to go. Most of the time you can find really nice doctors and nurses out there. PLEASE for your babys sake make an appointment. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Get a good friend to go with you or your mom. anyone that will make it more comfortable for you. Just never be scared, because llike mikasmommy said it is nothing bad at all!! Good luck!!

mikasmommy - 391 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) when i first went they did an ultrasound, bloodwork, nothing bad at all! and by the way...Maybe she just found out she was pregnant! I know someone who didnt go till she was 6 months and her and her baby are totally fine...the question wasnt about her not going to the doctor it was about what would happen when she did!!

NeverPreggers - 391 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If you're a healthy person, then going to the doctor isn't always necessary. Lots of women prefer to have unassisted pregnancies and childbirth and everything goes fine. If you feel there is a problem, then you shouldn't hesitate to go see a doctor. I don't know what a doctor would do at this point if you had never been before but my guess is that he'll take some blood and run some tests and give you an exam.

lisamarie8503 - 391 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If she is feeling good solid kicks, my guess would be she is 16+ weeks.

lisamarie8503 - 391 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You didnt write why you havent been to the doctor? If you are in the US, you can go totally free if need be. It is pretty bad that you havent been to the doctor because you would have had an ultrasound by now to make sure everything is going okay. If you havent gone to the doctor yet, hopefully you are at least taking a prenatal vitamin every day.

sarah2319 - 391 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) oo and I don't think it's that bad...since well I didn't see a doc. until I was four months...I mean yea it made me a little worried...but when I did get checked my baby was fine...I was feeling movements too...and the doctor said if you feel movment...then that's a sign of a healthy baby..although....if you arn't taking prenatal vitamins i would go to the drugstore and get some...that's what I did since I wasn't going to the doc..then when I went he prescribed me some.....BEST OF LUCK...and congratulations!

bebe77 - 391 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If you're in the United States and don't have insurance, you may want to try a local non-profit pregnancy services. You can check online or the yellow pages as to what's close to you. best wishes, and welcome to the site!

katanddan - 391 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Hi firstly congratulations to you I am not sure where you live but here in Scotland when we find out we are pregnant we go to the doctor and he refers us to midwife and in turn to hospital for scan . The doctor and midwife will give you an approx date you are due based on your last period. You will have bloods taken to check for various things . I would say you must be quite far along if you can feel kicks .The midwife will tell you this ,as she may well be able to feel your uterus above your pelvic bone .The midwife will take a detailed family/medical history. Correct dating will come from your scan .Sometimes it is harder to date you if you are further along due to some babies growing faster then others. You will have to give a urine sample at scan visit. So you have a busy time ahead of you look forward to hearing how you get on . My aunt didnt go to the doctors at all ,cause she didnt know she was pregnant till she was washing her windows and was in great pain ,anyhow she went to hospital and to everyone surprise gave birth to a daughter . Take care chat soon :)

sarah2319 - 391 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) well...I am on medicaid...and had a very bad time with trying to get into the doctor the first time...because my medicaid kept messing up...I ended up not seeing a doctor until I was four months pregnant...=/...sooo what they did was....when I got there...at every appt. too I have to pee in a cup...and then when I got in the doctor's office...they checked my weight...blood pressure...and the nurse asked me ALLOT of question's and then she put them in her computer....then they doctor came in to talk to me and introduce himself...then they had me get ready for a pap....they did the pap...and it kinda hurt a little...doctor said farther along you are the more it will hurt a little...then after that they checked the baby's heartbeat...and then took about 4 tubes of blood....also...when I had to strip down into nothing but that gown for the pap...the doctor did a breast exam too...then...afterwards..I out my clothes back on and heard the heartbeat...it was pretty much a complete physical...now...when I go...it's only I go pee in a cup...and then the doctor will ask me if there is anything I am concerned about or if I have question's...and then we hear the heartbeat and then he measures me....and then we are done...anytime they are going to do a test they have always let me know before...so i know what to expect at the next appt....

Dutch-Mommy - 391 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) why haven't you been to the doc? In the netherlands we go once in a month to a special pregnancy-nurse! At the visit, she asks how it goes, listends to the heartbeat of baby, how much you gain weight! because that's all important to know the health of the baby!! ANd ofcourse the ultrasounds... SO don;t wait any longer! Go to the doc. for your babies health!

oxoalicia143oxo - 391 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) how far along are you? You will expect your blood pressure being taken, fundal height measured, heartrate checked, pap smear on your first visit, ultrasounds, etc. You should go to the doctor and atleast start prenatal vitamins, they are essential to your babies development. Good luck and welcome to the site!
