Which Breast Pump to get? Added: 1078 days ago. Added by: alea Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
I am planning to breast feed my baby for as long as I can. But I don`t know what breat pump to get. I just registered last week, and I put the Medela one on my registry (I don`t really expect anyone to buy it for me, I just wanted to look it up when I got home) Has anyone used that brand before? I know it`s got to be one of the most expensive one, but does that make it the best?

ok so I know it has been like 13 yrs since I tried one buit my experience with electric pumps was not good. I found that they hurt and were ineffectual compared to a hand pump and ultimately what worked best for me was hand expression (my own hand). By far the cheapest way is by using your own hand, and it is tiring at first however you build up strength as you go and it is more efficient in the long run. 2nd to that the hand pump that I liked best was a Medela I can't remember how much it cost but, it was far less then the electric.

OH DEFINITELY get the Medela! It is fantastic! I exclusively pumped for 9 months, each session only took about 10min. to fully pump and it's so portable! I also bought the Medela Harmony for manual pumping if I needed to bring it into a restaurant or the zoo, or camping. It was also wonderful! I actually used my pump in style in the restroom at the zoo one time and no one even knew! Ha!

I used my sister in laws Medela pump and I thought it was great. She used it for two of her kids and then lent it to 4 other mommies and it is about to come my way again for my second child. They sell accessories seperately so if you loose pieces or you want to lend it out, it's not a problem getting the pieces that you need. The best thing is that the motor still works after all of that pumping. I've heard that you pretty much get what you pay for when it comes to the pumps and that the cheaper ones tend to break much easier. If you want to read parent reviews go to www.babiesrus.com and look up breast pumps. Select a pump and look at the bottom of the description page for parent reviews. I often go to the Babies R Us web site to see what other parents think about products I'm looking to purchase for my son. Good Luck!

I got a Medela free from WIC. You just ask the nutritionist for one when you talk to her about the breastfeeding.

I love my medela double breast pump. I bf/pumped for my son until he was 15 months old and it was a great help! However, i work full time and when my son was 7 months old he started daycare full time. So i had to pump. If i was a SAHM, i would just have a $30 hand pump so i had something to use when i wanted to go out at night.
