what does spd mean?

dawnispregz - 1077 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) symphasis pubis dysfunction. its one of the most horrendous things that can happen to a preggers. i had it from 4 mth onwards/ basically - your pubic bone has a ligament in the middle to help with movement and as the baby gets heavier and closer to birth (altho mine was 4 mth !) the more prone you are to getting it. one side of teh pubic bones moves more freely than the other so its shearing off little fragments of the ligament which causes the pain. its extremely debilitating and if you have it you need help with every day things. like cleaning, bathing, getting in bed, you dont have the capacity to lift your legs wide or up, (ie pulling on undies etc) you can wear support belts and tubigris to limit movement and reduce the amount of weight on your hips and crutches to reduce the weight on your feet too. you cna take mes if needs be 1 codeine phosphate and 1 paracetomol and neither of these are harmful to the baby. If you have it go to my blog ' coping with spd' and there are some tips that i learnt from my physiotherapist. x x
