Wondering about the sex of babies???? Added: 1076 days ago. Added by: klo0426 Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
Just sitting here wondering, how many of you out here either wanted to know or wants to know the sex of your babies? I don`t know maybe this is the only thing I`m old fashion about, but I haven`t wanted to know this entire time. There are not too many surprises in life anymore...I just think this is one thing that should be.

I didn't with my first but with the younger 3 I did. With number 2 it stopped hubby arguing with me that it was a girl. I KNEW it was a boy (I was right of course ;)) But with the other 2, it was just easier. I could buy exactly what I needed before they were born. With this one, I'm finding out, just to shut hubby up again. Plus it makes my life so much easier. I can stop dreaming about pretty girls clothes if it's a boy or go NUTS on pretty girls clothes if it's a girl lol!

I wanted to know so we found out; my cousin said it best when she told me that it's a surprise whether you find out before you deliver or when you deliver; you still get your moment!

I wanted a surprise with my first 3 pregnancies, but I found out this last time just for something different and also because I have 1 girl and 2 boys and my daughter wanted a sister so badly that I figured if it was another boy I wanted to give her lots of time to get used to the idea before the baby was born. Luckily for her, she finally getting her sister.

I wanted to know both times. I am a planner. Like someone said below. It is a surprise either way at around 20 wks or 40 wks. Plus, I had baby names picked out since high school and I wanted to call the baby by his/her name.

I did not find out the sex with my son and I am not finding out this time with this pregnancy. I love being surprised. My dr said it was very rare to have a patient that wanted to be surprised. When my son was born via c section, I expected to hear the "it's a boy/girl" right away but dr forgot to announce till we asked almost 2 minutes later. I guess he was used to having his patient already knowing what the sex is, haha.

i found out only because I am impatient and wanted to know....but i do agree with you that it is more fun to wait and be surprised....when I asked if they could tell what it was i was actually hoping they wouldn't be able to tell.

My husband and I both wanted to be surprised...just like you, there are too few big surprises in life, and the extra surprise is telling everyone else later. I am 26 weeks and we have declined to know the gender at each u/s. People who have found out ahead have admitted to me that it was great finally seeing their baby, but very anti-climatic, especially when they also told people the name they had picked out. Well, we'll have a lot more fun with it!

I think whether you find out at the birth or before the birth - either way, it's still the same surprise - it doesn't change the inevitable outcome finding out prior to the birth..
I wanted to find out because I really wanted a little girl and I wanted to go girly overboard in the nursery - crystal chandeliers the works haha. Also, sick of buying little boys clothes. As it was, he's a boy.. I took it quite hard to be honest - though obviously VERY grateful for a healthy baby of any gender.. But I am definitely glad I found out so I could make my peace with it so to speak. I now couldn't be happier with another little boy but I just know if I had of went through pregnancy and labour hoping beyond hope for a girl (so I could name her after my grandmother who died a year ago) I'd have probably cried and been doubly disappointed at the birth, and that would not have been cool.. or very fair for my little babe :]

I totally know what your saying, I didn't want to find out both times, but the situation I was in last time with it being twins I realy needed to know for sure ( I thought I was having boys from the word go)to be able to prepare as I was a single parent then. This time I didn't wana find out again but the twins wanted a sister so badly that my partner and I felt it was only sensible to find out for their sake as we didn't want them to posibly be very disapionted when baby is born, and as it turned out this is another boy and they were realy disapointed at the scan but because they have had time to get used to the idea of another brother they are now realy excited. But if I had my way I would have left it as a suprise, as you say there are so few surprises in life anymore.
Take care

with my first, they didnt tell me i just felt that she was a girl and she was, with my second i just new the baby was a boy and with this one a little girl. alot of people dont want to know, i guess its just for the sake of buying the right colours!!! i did find out this time, just for that reason as my 2 sisters had boys within the last few years and we had masses of blue stuff, but then again i just new it was i girl, i think its the way i carry them i can just tell.x
