Pelvic/Pubic Bone Pain

Is it normal to have pubic bone pain? I am 23 weeks and for the last 2 weeks it feels like someone punched me and I feel bruised. I did not experience this pain with my first pregnancy and have no idea if this is normal or if I should be concerned. I do know that I have a low-lying placenta at this point but I am not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.

It doesn't hurt the pregnancy but it hurts you! The pelvic bones are unstable and move around, causing the pain. Have you doctor confirm. If it is, there isn't a lot they can do. I will say wearing a support belt helped me a great deal.

dawnispregz - 1073 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) yeah pain /aching is normal but it depends to what degree, just read my blog 'coping with spd' and see if you fit that, it could be the start of things to come, and if it is - even though spd is common, its not normal. common n normal are completely different. if u have spd u dont have to suffer without help x x

umich0730 - 1073 days ago Thanks everyone for your responses, I feel much better. I will still mention it to my doctor at my appointment on Friday, just to be sure.

Holly28 - 1073 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Totally and completely normal. There is something called something along the lines of symphis pubis disorder or SPD (sorry I am not sure of the actual spelling) there is a forum here on IAP about it and lots of info all over the internet. Basically, the gap in your pubic bone spreads too much or too fast. Mine started around 18 weeks and I am still having issues with it 6 months PP. There is treatment though. I found that a heating pad became my best friend. Good luck and talk to your dr about it.

voncoco - 1074 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I have had the same sensation... i think maybe you are just carrying your baby lower this time and as it gets heavier you feel the pressure more. you should always voice your concerns to your midwife or doctor though... good luck
