Is there a limit to how many c-sections you can have?

The medical risks to mother and baby increase with each consecutive surgical delivery, so it's good to talk w/ your doc about it for family planning purposes. Now, if you exceed the "golden number" and get pregnant again anyway, well, the baby's gotta come out, one way or another. By that point, depending on the types of c-section incisions, etc, VBAC may be out of the question, and so the mother simply has to accept the risk of another surgical delivery.

I had a c-section for medical reasons and my doctor told me I should not plan to have more then 3 children due to the c-sections.

I have heard that most docs don't like to do more than 3, I believe mostly because of the scarring, externally it can heal very well but internally can be another matter. I had a friend who had 3 and had to go back later and have Adhesions divided after her last c section. The internal scarring had "stuck" to her abdominal wall and was pulling! Yikes

It must depend on the person. My mom had 9 kids and had 4 kids through C-section. Also that was in the 80's & early 90's!

I believe it depends on the person and how they heal after each one, also scar tissue can play a big role!

I think it varies person to person, and doctor to doctor, depending how your body heals after each one.
