in the uk you have to wait untill you have at least one normal period but it might be different in canada

Usually your doc will ask at your 6 week check up. Which is as soon as they recommend you having sex again anyways.

Usually 6 weeks check up, I know my Dr offers the pill right away. I was nursing and he started me on the pill (one you can take while nursing) the day I went home from the hospital until I decided what birth control I wanted to change to on my 6 weeks check up.
