my 6 month old is constipated for the 2nd time:( its so awful to see. ive given her prune juice, and had to give her a suppository. the suppository worked but im just wondering why she is having issues with this. she drinks breastmilk, i thought that was suppose to help with preventing constipation? i hate to see her go through this more than once!

Then I found out that constipation means the stool is harder and more dry, it doesn't have anything to do with frequency like most people think. So if it's just a question of frequency, don't worry about it. But if her stools are drier and harder, then make sure she is drinking some water too along with the the breast milk during the day. Good luck.

koraljolin - 1035 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My 8 mo old just dealt with this. It could be something in her diet that causes it. I'm almost positive it was the rice cereal i was giving her. Anyway, both time I simply cut out all solids and only gave her breastmilk. within 24 hrs she was moving, and shortly after she became regular again.

She looks very healthy like she nurses great and eats well. What helped my boys is giving them 2servings of veggies close together. IE: Warm sweet peas in the morining, then warm sweet pea's at lunch again. Also, a little warm water or warm water juice combo works well also. My 15 month old is having the same problem, motts sugar free apple sauce, adn extra water seems to work wonders!
