tto - 1031 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) A test for ear infections: wait until she is not fussy about something- then push right in front of her ear and down by her earlobes. If it is infected she'll cry or make a face depending on how infected. Otherwise they can be teething symptoms. Plus everything will get worse if infected.

GoonieMomma - 1031 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Well, I think the other mamas here have it down. Yeah, those are symptoms of teething and ear infections. But trust your mama instincts (that's why they call it mother's intuition and not doctors intuition!). If she's still got this going on tomorrow, you should ask for a second opinion. Did she have a cold a day or two before the ear sx started? If so, I'd be 90% sure it was an ear infection and not teething (or could be made worse by teething). Also, your LO may have just started getting her infection and dr can't see anything behind the membrane... yet. Again, it's the wait rule... 24 hrs between dr. visits. AND a diff doc! I'd be more persistent since she has a history of ear infections... your normal doc should be happy to amuse your requests to be seen. Half of a pediatrician's job is to help new families trust their instincts and grow in their ability to parent these little patients!

JuliMomOf4 - 1032 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My kids (and I) are also prone to chronic ear infections, but they always did this when teething. All 4 of them would get fevers, pull their ears, red cheeks, nappy rash and scream the house down. It's annoying as it's hard to tell the difference, but it NEVER hurts to take your child to the doctor if you're unsure.

jumpingbean - 1032 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) fever and pulling at the ears are very common of teething. The jaw and ears are connected. Also watch for diaper rash and red cheek. Diarhea also is a sign of teething.

mom2twogirls - 1032 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Thanks! Dr swears it is just teething but my mom was concerned because she said I was always getting ear infections when I was that age and they presented with a sudden onset fever like Lillys and pulling at the ears, she has already had 4 ear infections since she was born!

megandgrace - 1032 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Yes, Grace was/is just like that. I took her to the doctors a couple times with those symptoms and she has never had an ear infection!

luvbeingamom - 1032 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My kids ALWAYS have a fever when teething and almost always pull at their ears. Those are very normal symptoms for teething. Though they say to watch for fever spikes, dehydration and any other virus type symptoms, b/c they are very easy to confuse.
