How muh and how quickly does your baby taste what you eat. I like Lemon water and spicy food-- My baby girl moves like no ones business if I drink Lemon water so I stopped. How much do they really taste and how fast? As soon as you eat it?

Not sure what the exact science is...but it's great to eat spicy foods through your whole pregnancy so that when you're breastfeeding they don't react badly when you eat the spicy food. That's what I've read and experienced with my 10week old :)

They don't actually taste as your or I think of it, on their tongues. Some babes can be sensitive to the chemical changes in your blood, which pass through your placenta. Your baby is likely responding to your stomach and gut noises; which I'm guessing are greatly increased with spicy foods! Once babes are QUITE large (like 36 weeks or so), they can feel cold vs hot liquids because they're so close to your stomach. The greatest reaction can also be seen when you eat something really sugary (milky way bars were my favorite!). Your blood sugar goes up instantly, as does babe's. Baby on a sugar rush! They actually recommend trying juice or a candy bar if you've got decreased fetal movements and are concerned. Though you shouldn't be eating a ton of junk just to feel baby move, it was a fun treat every now and then, esp. if daddy hadn't felt him move in a while (Woohoo for late night trips to Dairy Queen!)

I've only really noticed the difference temperature. Hot seems to "settle" the baby, cold always wakes them up and makes them hyper. I ate spicy foods when pregnant and it never seemed to bother the baby at all. But all 4 of my kids love spicy food...
