daydays mom - 1031 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my daughter hated tummy time. i just let her do her thing. and shes a year old now and shes perfect. so i would just let him grow at his own pace get him a bouncer, and just let him do what he wants, because he knows what he wants to do.

So strange. However, a dear friend of mine's little girl refused her tummy. My poor friend was so distraught thinking she would never do it and then be behind in all of her other milestones. Not the case. As soon as the baby could roll over to her belly on her own is when she started liking it. She crawled RIGHT after that and walked at 11 months. LOL guess it's a control issue.

canadababy - 1031 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My 10week old girk doesn't like tummy time too much either! I get her to work her neck when I'm sitting on the couch I hold her in my arms and lean back and lay her on my belly and chest so she's at about a 45 degree angle. She's lifting her head the whole time so she can continue to look around. Works for us!

jaydsmom - 1031 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Oh my son hated tummy time too. I tried, but really didn't want him doing something he hated. I would just put him on his back, or carry him in a carrier so he didnt get the ugly flat spot and helped build his neck muscles. At 4.5 months he learned to roll over and that's when he started to not mind tummy time. I think it's because he got there himself. Now at almost 6 months he is starting to crawl.

CarrieE - 1031 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My daughter Emma is now just over 9 months and HATED tummy time from day 1!! She would scream and cry so hard when we would lay her down. We kept doing it each day for 5 minutes or so (her screaming all the while). This went on for months. Even when she was 7 months old, she hated it. She started rolling over when she was about 6 or 7 months, but it literally only happened a couple times. She was kind of like, "here, I can do this, now sit me up." Our doctor said it was normal so we didn't worry too much about it. However, I was a little concerned about her doing things at the same (or similar) pace as other babies like you said. Well, it all worked out. Here we are at 9 months and she is a little monkey!! She crawls all over, she pulls herself up on everything, trolls around the furniture, and uses her little push walker to walk around the house! All of that just started happening in the last month or so. She hated being on her tummy, and then one day, around 8 months or so, she just took off has been doing new things nearly every day! They do indeed go at thier own pace and I guess we parents just need to accept that. :) I think it was helpful for us just to keep praising her when she was trying to do something(even if she wasn't being successful). One day soon I'm sure your little man will take off and then look out...there'll be no stopping him!! :)

antsmom - 1031 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Relax... my son hated tummy time. I rarely ever put him on his tummy for it because it was such a battle. He turned out just fine! He started taking steps at 10 months and was walking full time at 11 months. He had no developmental delays from lack of tummy time. Good luck!

GoonieMomma - 1031 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Our guy was the same way! We did "tummy time" by laying on the couch or ground and placing him on our chests. It was great for Daddy as he got tons of skin time (I got mine through nursing). He was much more tolerant this way. Also, front-facing in a carrier helps develop the same neck/back muscles (our doc suggested this). We used a Moby Wrap. He still won't roll from back to front at 8 months. I like to say it's because he's smart and knows what he does and does NOT like. But now he's LUNGING onto his front, which usually ends with him taking a header... then he rolls immediately to his back (cuz why on earth would he be on his front?). Also: milestones are approximations. I wouldn't worry about starting to feel the pressure of keeping up with the Jones' kids. Your guy will do what he'll do. And as long as you're giving him love and HIM-appropriate challenges, and he's growing, no worries! Also, don't catch yourself one-upping other moms. And if you've got a bragger in your midst a wonderful, "Wow, that's great!" when she's bragging may shut her down, esp. if you don't compare hers to your little bruiser. Also, some moms do this just b/c they want to see if they're around the same milestones as others; that's when it's YOUR turn to say, "It's okay to just let him go at his pace. No biggie." W/ all the stimulation toys out there, and the "brainy baby videos" we sure are pushing our LO to grow up super fast. Pshew. Long one!

barunka05 - 1031 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Don't force it, sometime babies start liking it later. Try it but not for a long time. If he starts crying and or st else move him on his back. Once he is able to hold his head up a little he will like the view he has from his tummy.

phoenixsmommy - 1031 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my son used to love being on his tummy but now he HATES IT. tummy time lasts all of 2 minutes. my best friends son hated it too so she never made him do it. he is 4 months old now and can hold his head up, so i wouldn't worry.
