Well im in sa and i was induced at 38 weeks 1 day.I asked my gynae if he can induce me coz of bad backache and he said yup no problem,he just checked her lungs. And then checked my pelvis and babies head and weight and said id have to be induced anyway coz im sooo tiny or if i waited longer a c section was a must. When she came out her poor head was so mis formed coz she struggled to get thru my pelvis. So id say ask your doc:-)

I went to weeks overdue, and it was miserable. I wanted her out. then my water broke and it wass still taken my body awhile to get her out bc she was bigger then we all expected. if i would have induced like my doc wanted me to at 38 weeks I would have had to have a c-sec. (imo) id wait untill your bodys ready, unless you have medical problems. Good luck with w/e you decide to do!!

The apple will fall off the tree when it's ripe. I went two weeks over due with both my children and if it happens again this time, so be it. I always end up getting induced after labouring for 24 hours or more. I can dialate on my own up to 2cm, but then I just stop dialating so the contractions are redundant. On my two previous children, Oxitocin was used to induce me. It's an evil drug. It's probably invented by men. Contractions don't gradually get stronger and longer...they just ARE. You have no time to catch your breath. As for a doctor inducing you just because you want him/her to? I don't think so. They'll probably tell you to wait X amount of days and see what happens. But if you want to go ahead and ask, it's totally up to you. I'm definitely hoping I don't have to be induced this time. It's horrible.

Why would you want to get induced??? It is more painful to get induced than to go through natural labor. You've made it this far, why not let baby come out on his or her own??? Due dates are just estimates. If you baby needs to stay in a bit longer to further develop his or her immune system, lungs, etc.... so be it.

Wouldn't hurt to ask if that's what you want...but you would you want to do that???? It's totally unsafe for your baby, plus you almost done! Just waitit out unless there is some medical problem you are going through

I cannot begin to imagine what its like the last few weeks of pregnancy. I was induced at 37 weeks (and that felt long enough lol) with both due my pregnancies. 1st due to pre-eclampsia and 2nd due to raised BP and risk of pre-clampsia. I was not "favourable" for induction so I had the pessary gel to rippen my cervix, but little did that know it kicked started things and I gave birth after just a few hours. There is just no telling how your body will react to certain medication, so if you have no medical reason to be induced I would advise to wait it out. Or speak to your doc and ask advise on natural ways to induce labour. x Wish you luck x

I really dont think so, I was 40 weeks with a healthy, perfect 8 pound baby and they wouldnt induce me until i was 41 weeks, and guess what, she came the day befor i was scedualed to get induced. And in that extra week, she gained a pound and i gained two plus i got streach marks. i was ticked off!

I doubt it but its possible. I was induced at 36weeks and 6 days becuase my husband is in the military and could only be home on the weekends so we planned for me to get induced so he could be there. I mentioned it to the doctor and she was all for it. o it really depends on your doctor for sure, every doctor is different. Oh and i had the most EASIEST labour every, so it really depends on the person.

Take it from someone who knows. Induction is evil. I would not wish that on my worst enemy. Doctors starting things off when they aren't ready can make you need intervention. I lost 4ltrs of blood with my son after induction as my uterus stopped contracting as my placenta fell away from my uterus wall. It should only be done when needed. Wait it out. Put your feet up for 2 weeks and relax. This will be the last time you get time to yourself without having to worry about anything for a long long time.

Look up the Bishops Score - this is the guide doctors use to determine if you are ready for an induction. The lower the score the less likley the induction will be sucessful. I was induced 2 weeks late - I ended up having an emergency section but this was due to baby being stuck as apposed to my body not being ready. Your health care provider should tell you that not being 100% ready may result in assistance or a section being required. I know it's hard by try and wait it out, going natural is supposedly less intense than an induction and beleive me once to drip to ramp up your contractions kicks in there's no build up just strong and frequent contractions xx

no i dont think your doc would do that. the last few wks are the toughest to wait out but the time will be here before you know it. enjoy it while you can, you will have lots more challenges ahead when the baby comes.

My doctor will definitely induce early for no medical reason. I was induced with my daughter at 39 weeks. But he will not do it more than one week early. And he only does it if you are at least 3 cm dilated. He says that if you are 3 cm dilated and 39 weeks then there's no reason that you should still be pregnant. And it was an easy birth with absolutely no problems. My doctor says that it's because my body was ready to give birth, I was dilated, the baby was sitting extremely low, I had lost the plug. Everything was ready to go, it just took a little pitocin to get it moving. So I guess it must depend on your doctor but I'm pretty sure they'll only do it if you are "ready".

No, she most likely will not. There is a reason pregnancy is meant to be at least 40 weeks long. I know 2 weeks doesn't sound like much but it really is. Not to mention, docs are bound by rules and guidelines that they cannot break. If there is no mdical reason, it's a no-go. Trust me, you don't want that anyway. You want to know that you did the BEST you could to give your baby a good start. Enjoy the end of your pregnancy, it will be over before you know it and you WILL miss it, even if you want out right now :-)

Probably not unless there's a medical reason/problem...they don't just like to induce for no reason, there's too much risk and liability involved plus, If something bad were to happen and you were induced for no reason...I wouldn't be able to get over that....You can mention it to your doctor but most likely they will say no unless there's a medical reason...Good Luck
