just curious..im 15 days pp and would soo like a beer or 2. just wondering if its safe to drink now. im also breastfeeding and i hear the rule is if u dont feel the affects of the alcohol its okay to feed the baby. and also theres no need to pump and dump right?

kbrooke1231 - 1018 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Whenever you want. My Ped, OB, and primary Dr all told me there is no need to pump and dump. 1 wine or beer in between feedings is fine. 1 liquor drink you should wait 1-2hrs to feed.

Aprilraine - 1019 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had a cooler at 7 days pp and I breastfed 3 hours later. http://www.llli.org/FAQ/alcohol.html

Jenny309 - 1020 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Hello, I had mine at 1 month.. I had 2 beers and was drunk, lol... Cant handle my alcohol any more at all.. I was primarily formula feeding so that was not an issue for me.

MelissaJoanne - 1020 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Hi, I don't actually drink, but wanted to give you a link from kellymom.com (GREAT website for breastfeeding info). http://www.kellymom.com/health/lifestyle/alcohol.html Also since I saw it mentioned here... it's not beer that helps milk supply (alcohol can hinder let-down) - it's brewer's yeast, which is available as a supplement. There are also strips that you can buy that test for alcohol in your breastmilk: http://www.milkscreen.com/

FinalScore1girl2boys - 1020 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had a drink at the hospitla with my firt!

juliealisesmommy - 1020 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) ok rule of thumb.. 1 beer, 1 pump n dump.. yes there is a need!!! ur child is so small n vulnerable.. i am a breast feeding consultant.. ive seen some horrible things..read sad stories..plzz pump n dump

sweet1 - 1020 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) im 8 days pp and i wanna drink too i think if you have those strips they tell if you have alcohol in your milk so i would try that. i really dont need it to increase my supply though lol

mama2 - 1020 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Lol, I love this question. I was 3 or 4 days PP, corona light with lime...mmmmm and courtenay is right about the beer increasing your supply.

canadababy - 1020 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) 6 weeks PP I had 2 beers, and they tasted SO great!! You're right, if you don't feel the alcohol, you're alright to feed. Regardless, the alcohol leaves your system at one drink per hour, just like normal. And no need to pump and dump. If you're worried, I read the best time to have a drink is immediately after a feed so you have the most time for the alcohol to leave your system. Now go have a beer!!

courtenay - 1020 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) like the second day i was home from the hospital, i try and have a beer everyday because it helps with milk production and i have the occasional glass of wine. also you are correct if you cant feel the alcahol you are safe to feed but if you have a high tolerance you should wait an extra hour, alcahol circulates in and out of your milk like it does your blood. there is no need to pump and dump

rosye13 - 1020 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My doctor told me 2 hours for each drink. They do sell strips that will test your milk to make sure though. I waited about a month or so but that was just personal choice. After that my husband and I would have drinks on Friday nights. I just made sure to have some pumped for her.

klunkette - 1020 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It has nothing to do with how long after, but you do have to pump and dump. I think it is like two hours or somthing after so that it will have gotten through your system.

oxoalicia143oxo - 1020 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I don't think it matters how long after. I would just pump and dump. Go enjoy yourself :)
