The problem is he absolutely HATES to be lifted out and dried and dressed. Loves the bath, but as soon as my spare hand goes in under his butt to scoop him out - before he`s even lifted out of the water - he absolutely hates it and gets himself in such a state.. We`ve bathed him every day since we brought him home - we just use plain water, no soaps. He`s only properly washed down with sponge and washcloth every third day and his hair washed every second day - which is the only time we use any kind of soap product..(please no comments about over-bathing or washing as we mostly use the bath as an aid to him getting a restful nights sleep after a kick around and float int he bath to relax him and freshen him up) Anybody got any ideas how I can make it a more pleasant experience for him? We`ve tried warming the towel he`s wrapped in, the room is always warm.. I just dont know what to do.. Anybody else baby act like this at this age, or a similar age? Any advice/experiences much appreciated... I`m beginning to DREAD bathtime because of this but I`m not prepared to stop the daily bathing as I find it an excellent tool to him getting into a good night time routine and knowing when it`s time to settle down properly - he`s very fractious throughout the night if not bathed.. Thanks in advance ladies

He loves being in the water, I play soothing music and sing/talk to him, as soon as he is out of the water, he screams/cries too, I wrap him quickly in a hood towel, and just do what I need to-dry/lotion/dress, and I talk to him the whole time. Hopefully as he grows older he'll be less upset afterwards, we'll see..

Bangel - 1014 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) mine was like that, and everyone thought it was because he was cold after, but all it ended up being is that I cut bathtime too short. When I let him stay in there relaxing or playing for a long time, no more screaming after. He was just mad at me for ending his bath time before he was done. lol

mariettap - 1014 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) A couple of ideas: 1) Close the bathroom door to keep down drafts. Bring the jammies and anything else you need in with you so you don't need to step into the draft to get him dressed. 2) Skip the baby hooded towels and go for a real big person towel. They're thicker and warmer. 3) No more dreading bath time for you! If you sing while washing him, keep on singing while he screams on the way out. Bundle him quickly, then hug and rock him, smiling and singing or talking the whole way. Act like you're doing one of your favorite things. (not "Oh, i know it makes you mad..." but, "Yes! And now we'll do the diaper!" 4) Make bath shorter. They get very tired in the tub, even though it seems like we're the ones doing all the work! Stick to business, then up and out, even if he enjoys the water. 5) Mine does the same if she is sleepy and ready for her crib. Consider moving bath *and* bedtime about 30 mins earlier, and he may just have the energy to cope.

All i did was quickly wrap him up and hug him on his way to his room, then he was okay. But good new is my son is 6 months now and he is just starting to grow out of that. When we take him out now he does this little sad face, but he doesnt cry anymore. So hopefully you son grows out of it too! Best of luck!

canadababy - 1014 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) How warm is the room? You said it's warm, but just room temp warm? I put a little space heater in the bathroom before I bring my LO in and then when I bring her out of the bath I move the space heater into her nursery. It may be just a phase though, how long has this been happening? Did something traumatic happen during bathtime? My friend's baby loved the bath until the shower rod fell down one day and scared the crap out of him, lol, poor guy...Sorry, my 3month old didn't go through this, always loved the bath :)
