I am planning on breastfeeding but I have heard some horror stories about really sore nipples and boobs! I was wondering what helped with that. I want to know in advance so I can be prepared. LOL thanks!

LizetteCheree - 1005 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) ur doing the right thing to be prepared coz i wasnt eventhough i was on this website i never was realy prepared and i cried lonnnng tears,i bf for 2 weeks and got post partum depresion coz i felt like my body wasnt doing what it was suppose to.Later i was diagnosed with a super sensitive nipple syndrome or something like that basicly if i would have bf for longer my nipple skin would have come off.Weird huh!!But i wanted to continue but Andriette projectile vomited all of the breastmilk coz its so thin so i had to put her on a antiregurgitation formula. But she is doing awesomely well, going from 5.95 lbs to currently 4 months later 15 lbs.So either way you will be giving your bubs the best food:-)

I bought 1 tube of it...just a small one... and I still have it...I'm on baby #3 now... you only need a pea sized amount on your nipples and the cream itself is safe for the baby so if you put some on and the baby needs to feed right away no worries!

mariettap - 1006 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Glad you're getting a jump on things! I tried Lansinoh and then found Lanolin Mist. http://www.onestepahead.com/product/osa/534891.html The mist is much gentler, b/c you just point it and the spritz, rather than rubbing it on. This is good, if you have tenderness! Also, if things are really bad, call your doctor, who can prescribe something that is safe for baby and can help prevent complications for you. Here's a good link to read about preventing and treating sore nipples: http://www.kellymom.com/newman/03a-sore_nipples.html

megandgrace - 1006 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I tried the lanolin cream they gave me in the hospital but it really wasn't working for me so i tried a lanolin free cream that worked wonders!! Also if you do get sores on your nipples, use a warm wet wash cloth to soften the scab before the baby latches on. Also switches positions of the baby from football hold to cradle hold every other time helps too in the beginning! And make sure your bra is not too tight because it can cause more pain when you are engorged! Good luck and just get the first two weeks and you'll be fine, its an amazing thing to BF your child!!!!

wisfarmgirl - 1006 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Sometimes it helps to express or pump out a little milk before a breastfeeding session if they're really engorged when your milk first comes in. I got a big chapstick looking thing - Gerber brand - that worked really good. It was in with the breastfeeding stuff at Target. Good luck! As long as you're prepared for it to be hard the first 2 weeks as both you and baby are learning and that you always keep in mind that it gets easier and easier you'll be able to stick with it and then you'll be able to enjoy the bonding. But sometimes pumping and giving the baby a bottle is necessary. My son didn't have nipple/bottle confustion, so I think its okay when you need a break. Good luck!

courtenay - 1006 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) lansinoh cream, and the best advice i got was to pile it on like icing on a cupcake lol even though the package recommends a small amount. it feels so good esspecially if its cool. warm compresses help too and jut remember that it DOES get better and easier and eventually it stops hurting so much

talitha - 1006 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I loved my hot shower and baths even warm wash rags helped but the soreness doesn't last long it is usually only when your milk comes in...you will do great it isn't hard at all I nursed all 4 of my boys and will def. nurse this one too.

AubreyP - 1006 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) lansinoh cream...letting them air out around the house lol :)....that helped me. the soreness doesn't last that long...it's just while your body is adjusting.
