Itching??? Added: 1002 days ago. Added by: shortielee17 Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
For the past 4 days I have been extremely itchy `down there` with more discharge than usual. I called my Dr. and was told that it must be a yeast infection and to get some Monistat. Well, used it last night and it made it sooo much worse! What could this be??

I had a yeast infection not that long ago and i was told to take monistat as well. I got an offbrand because the crap is so expensive and i used it and my inner labia swelled up so huge they were bigger then th lips on my face lol. so i went to L&D since it was almost midnight and i NEEDED relieve right then! so i went in there and they gave me some tucks pads and said it appeared as if i was allergic to the medicine i used and they had me see my doctor the next day. So i went to my doctor and she gave me a yeast infection treatment that is just an oral pill. that worked like a charm, and BTW the swelling from the allergic reaction went away after like 24 hours. So anyway just tell your doctor you would like a prescription of an oral treatment because the over the counter isnt working for you. I have to say i LOVED that pill. so much easier and better then the cream crap! GOOD LUCK i know how you feel... yeast infections are AWEFULL!

ugh! I'm sorry that happened to you! Sometimes the inflammation of a yeast infection can be bad enough that the medicine itself increases the discomfort. I think your OB should have you come in, though, and get a sample so they can check and see exactly what it is. Sometimes a yeast infection can occur at the same time as a bacterial infection, and you'd never know without checking. Then you can work together to pick a treatment that you can tolerate and that will knock it out once and for all. I hope you feel better soon.
