But the problem is dd is a little constipated, she didnt have this problem before i started giving her 2 times a day, morning and evening,so im thinking its the added iron in the cereal,am i right??Must i just continue to give it to her,her tummy will get used to it or must i just go ahead and give veggies and fruits and stop giving cereals??I do give her some organic rooibos tea(pediatrician approved) but no water coz doc said rooibos(caffeine free) has natural anti oxidants which is good for baby. Please help!!Dd is 4 months 1 week old, weighs 14 lbs(more than double her birth weight) and drinks more than 1000mls a day(formula).Tia

mommy-at-home - 995 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) At 4 months, I would say that solids aren't necessary and your baby's digestive system is possibly not ready for solids; so if you don't find a solution to the constipation then you can just put the solids off for a while. I'm having to hold off giving solids to my 7 month old because EVERYTHING constipates him...

Khloes Mommy - 995 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My dd had the same problem & it got pretty bad we are still doing 2 oz a day of apple juice to try & get her back to normal. I stopped giving cereal & just do a fruit for breakfast & a veggie for dinner :)

angie2008 - 995 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My dd got really constipated on rice cereal, i would switch to oatmeal as others said. if you want you could just skip to fruits and veggies too, i've read you really don't need the cereal.

mathew102508 - 995 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Try Oatmeal as Bangel said. Plus i find Heinz is way better then nestle cereals. Just a personnal prefence tho

jessicadarling - 995 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) instead of cereal twice a day give cereal in the morning and then try a starter fruit or veggie in the evening. Applesauce is great for loosening up the stool.

Bangel - 995 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I switched from cereal to oatmeal and didn't have the constipation problems any more.

jen - 995 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Banana us a known binder, and will tighten up any loose stool that your dd may have, or can cause a bit of constipation for her also if she's not used to solids. I would try another stage one fruit, such as prunes. Or even a veggie, like carrots or peas. The veggies tend to be watery and can aid in loosening stool.
