When to pack hospital bag? Added: 990 days ago. Added by: kenzieb943 Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
When did most of you begin preparing your hospital bags? I still have awhile until my due date but both my and my boyfriend`s familys have a history of premature births. Any advice is really helpful thanks!

i worried a lot about what to pack and when, since this was my 1st baby and didn't know what to expect. i was really annoyed to find that i hardly used anything that i'd packed. i wasnt expecting to stay in the hospital for 5 days either. all i used were slippers, 1 bra, makeup and brush. the hospital had everything, even clothes and blankets to keep for the baby. they had toothpaste/ toothbrush, disposable underwear, etc. i wore a hospital gown the whole time. it was really hard to guess what clothes would fit me on the way home too.

To be honest if it makes you feel better pack it now. They advise you to have it packed by 36 weeks but some people have packed it a lot lot earlier. To be honest does it really matter if u pack it at the beginning of your pregnancy? Some people relax and feel better once they know everything is done so if it puts u at ease I'd pack it. If it really is too early pack it and keep it in a cupboard and then u can add things or take things out if u want and get it out when your ready to. Hope this helps good luck xxxx

Your partner's family history, even your own mother's history, won't effect your body's response --when or how quickly you wil deliver. You might just start jotting a list as items come to mind and mention to your partner where your list is in case your body pulls a fast one. The worst thing that could happen if you aren't packed is that someone comes by with your belongings for you after you deliver. I'm guessing your hospital is not a plane ride away ;)

I'm 37 weeks and just packed mine... I would take the advice of others and just start gradually packing it. I kept putting it off and would have been pretty mad if something would have happened and I wasn't prepared. I only live 15 minutes from the hospital so my husband could have ran home and grabbed stuff.

i think pack it at anytime, i did mine quite early and at the end of the day its better to be prepaired than not, also you can pack it graduly which will help spread out the cost of the items that you will have to buy. xx
