My daughter was a premie (4 pounds, born at 36 weeks) so the hospital gave us a ton of Enfamil 22 calorie formula to help her gain weight. It was working so her nutritionist told us to stop giving it to her if we wanted. Since then she hasn`t really gained weight. She`s three months old and still in newborn clothes and diapers. She DROWNS in 0-3 month clothes. I have no idea how much she weights since my husband is a dumbass and doesn`t care about his daughter, but the last time she was weighed was the beginning of April when I brought her to the ER to get drops for a clogged tear duct, and the nurse said she weighed either 7 pounds or just under 7 and she really doesn`t look like she`s gained weight since then. So ANYWAY...I was going to switch to giving her formula for all feedings for a couple weeks to try and get her to gain weight. She gets one bottle at night and drinks 5-6 oz but it`s not really helping.

The only benefit with switching to formula is that you are able to see how much she is consuming at each feeding, unless you pump and bottle feed. I would take her into the DR to get checked. She might be having a failure to thrive at which point some medical interventions may be required if she is not gaining weight properly.

happyforest - 987 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) have you thought about starting cereal to help?? i started cereal at 2.5 months, not to help gain weight, but bc my baby was already huge and had a gigantic appetite and liquids werent enough to fill him up. i dont know how you feel about solids, but it was just an idea.

novinsmommy09 - 987 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) if you are concerned about her weight gain i would do it

oxoalicia143oxo - 987 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I don't see any problem with it :)
