any tips on how to help your baby learn to sit on their own? my 7 month old still isnt sitting on his own, but does very well with just a little support, so i feel that he`s almost there. i was just wondering what everyone else did to help them learn. he is too big for his bumbo...

THEN, put a toy somewhere on the floor in front of him where he has to move at least one of his arms to get the toy. You're basically propping him to the side. What he will do is try to push himself up using his trunk muscles and arm muscles. try it to both sides and even have him lean way forward out front. catch him when he falls backward but LET him fall a little bit before you catch him. This too will engage those muscles. Sometimes, I will even help them walk their hands up from a side sitting position to a fully upright position. Keep working at it. If your baby has a big head, it might take him a little longer than some babies to do this. I'm a therapist and my son was well over 7 months before he could do it. BIG head. haha

abbyquiet - 986 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) honestly, i wouldn't worry about it. my son didn't learn to sit up until after he learned to crawl... like several months after. and it worried me a little, he was like 8 months old, and he just did it one day. i didn't have to do anything special, he just got it.

But its funny cause i have a friend whose baby is almost 5 months and he is already sitting on his own. I dont think there is really anything you can do you help speed up the process. It will just happen. I cant wait thought.

brendalee - 987 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My LO is three months and starting to do it very well. I just sit her on the floor or on my lap and let her hold on to my fingers and I slowly let go. She balances herself for a few seconds...she's getting the hang of it.
