the doctor will try to stretch it out as far as possible. I was induced at 36 weeks. It all depends on your BP, if it stays high enough for 24 hours they'll induce right away.

i developed pre-e, as well as HELLP Sydrome, around 33/34wks. bp was high, protien in the urine, but my kidneys and liver were really messed up, i had blood drawn every 4hrs while i was in the hospital, and i got BP meds too. I delivered vaginally so my doc wanted to to have a pain releif, becuause pre-e can turn in the elampsia (seziures). i was in the hospital for 1 wk. (4 days after i had my son i was realeased)since my BP, kindeys and liver were back to normal.
my son was born at 34.4wk and was only 4.8lbs and 17 1/4, he was in the NICU for 6 days. to come out of the NICU he had to breathe, maintain body temp (without the incubator), drink from a bottle, and gain weight. this is the "standard" for most NICU's.

My first pregnancy I developed pre-eclampsia. My problem was I had high BP and protein in my urine the whole way through. Also my blood tests came back with high uric acid and creatinine (sp?) I was constantly admitted and then released as my consultant explained that I was not "symptomatic" (no headache, flashing lights, epi-gastric pain etc) I had issues with my kidneys and blood pressure pre-pregnancy. However I was pretty much made to rest as though I did have pre-eclampsia. I was put on higher BP Meds also and monitored twice a week. I was also given clexane injection everyday to stop DVT. I was told if I felt ANY symptoms to go straight to hospital. At 36+6 I went to L&D My BP would not go down at all and I had ALL the symptoms so was induced immediately. I was put on a magnesium sulphate drip for my BP and the pessary gel to induce. Afterwards I was quite ill, but my Son was 100% perfectly healthy. Listen to your body, and REST. Even if you think you are fine. Also if you feel something is not right go straight to hospital, don't wait about. I must have gone about 10 times before I actually got induced. Take it easy....Have you had steriod injections yet? If you ever want to talk, feel free to message me
