I am breastfeeding (only) and i was wondering about when should my baby start sleeping for 5 hours at a time durring the night? (consistantly) And also is there anything i can do to help encourage his transition to mainly night sleeping? Another question i have is, if i have him sleep with me durring the day for our naps, will that make him like day sleeping more? should i stop this? Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

juels101 - 979 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Personally I found that the days I did nap with my kids that falling asleep at night was harder and they expected me to sleep with them, which I've never done. Also, I've found ( I also exclusivly breast feed ) that babys slowly sleep through the night themselves as long as there is a consistant bed time, and you only go in to feed. Plus around 6mo night time neutrician is no longer "needed" so if you have the heart you can let them cry it out a couple of nights and they'll be sleeping through the night in no time.

courtenay - 979 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i think every baby is different. my daughter was sleeping for about 6 or so hours at a time when i brought her home and then at about 2 weeks she started waking every 2-3 hours to eat. i dont remember when she really started sleeping for longer stretches again but i know it was awhile. even now at 8 months she doesnt sleep all the way through the night. she does sleep for 5 or 6 hour stretches though but since she goes to bed at 8 she still wakes once or twice to eat. good luck. i know some people will say their babys slept through from the beginning but just so you know alot dont too.
