ok my sis told me you should never use tap water to make bottles, she says you should use something like nursery water, has anyone else heard this? i talked to a local nurse line and they told me tap water is fine for making only a couple bottles at a time but not for big batches.

mamalvs4 - 967 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i use tap water. i did call the city just to make sure that the water was safe and there was no increased elements in the water due to old system or new pipes but both the cit and my doctor said tap water is fine

dorolyn - 968 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I use nursey water only because we have well water (GROSS). But on the container of the nursey water in small print it does say not sterile... which means it needs to be boiled! I dont do it now and didnt with my first son altough the doc did reccommend it.

M2G - 968 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would never use tap water for bottles. We use boiled water - which is the same as nursery water as it's sterilized.

4thonitsway - 968 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) nursery water is not sterilized so you still need to boil it, the primary differnce between tap and nursery water is added flouride, read the container it tells you this. your pedi will tell you the same. so you still would need to boil the water whether its bottled or not. Sterilized water can be bought but it is EXTREMELY expensive

preggyvegan17 - 968 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I use a Brita filter, and I sterilize the water for 2 minutes, then cool it before making the bottles. But we've been advised (by the city) to use filters because our pipes are old...

larryslady - 968 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I use Nursery water....

happyforest - 968 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i always used tap water and i have a healthy 7 month old who has never been sick *knocks on wood*

readyfornumber2 - 968 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) if you are on city water you can call and they have to tell you (by law) if the water is safe for making bottles. If you are on rural water or private well I would get bottled.

dc_finest82 - 968 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I only used nursery water for my baby..it's only liek $1+ so i'm not sure if it is better than tap but i used it and had no problems

Rhonda Lynn - 968 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I suppose it depends on where you live and how "good" the tap water is.. I do use bottled water. Something I started when she was first born. Just felt like there were to many things added to tap water. But soon I am switching as she is almost 8 mos now. I feel her tummy can better handle it. Just my opinion though...

mathew102508 - 968 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You could alway just boil the water as well. i used cooled boiled tap water. Its cheaper then buying nursery water.

krystiannoah - 968 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i use tap water, but i have one of the brita filters on there....so i dont worry much about the water...but the brita thing is cool because after i make his bottle, i can make me some flavored water(pretty awesome!).

nutnut - 968 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i used this bottled water for babies, i dont remember the name of it, but they sold it at walmart. i really didnt want to give my daughter well water.

klo0426 - 969 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You can use either...it's totally up to you. Tap water is more convient when you're home, just boil it for about 5/10 mins first. You can boil as much as you'ld like and just let it sit out either in a pitcher or make up the bottles with the ozs that your little one is taking, warm it up and add the formula. Nusery water is the same just in a container of it's own, but if you're on a tight budget buying water may add up quickly. Either way you're fine, some babies like their formula warmed up and others are fine with room temp. I boil enough water everyday to fill 8 6oz bottle and just fill them up. That way they ate ready for when my little man is hungry, I just warm the water, add formula, shake/mix and it's ready.

RobinG - 969 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I used tap ~ some places recommend bottled some dont. It is totally up to you. If you do use nursery water be sure it has added floride, floride isnt in regular bottle water and babies need it. :)

vickiessecret - 969 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I use filtered water to make my daughters bottles.
